Usually they start going yellow at the bottom, you'll notice the big fans paling, this means they are hungry for nitrogen.
But isnt nitrogen deficiency normal during flowering. Im planning on using BioBizz all mix which has a higher concentration of nutes in it but if the fan leaves begin yellowing how woul dI know that its time to feed or if its just running through the course of the flowering process?
Some people think it is better to starve the plant
near the end of flowering which will result in lots of yellow leaves
at the end.
Others think it is better to keep the plant green and healthy and pumping out the bud and resin full force to the end, and feed accordingly. Many organicish soil growers on UK420 are in this camp and follow the feeding advice of OT1.
A plant that is yellowing is spending energy on moving nutes around the plant that it could be better spent on building bud and resin.
e2a - As Cantharis says leaves that are not getting any light will yellow and wither too. This is not necessarily a sign of hunger just of a lack of light penetration, and the plant deciding that that leave is not doing it any good....
Both groups would see yellow leaves any earlier than 2-3 weeks before expected harvest as a sign the plant wants feeding.
As a rule of thumb if you are potting up regularly, there should be enough nutes in any decent compost to last 2-3 weeks after the final pot-up. If you are not sure if thet need feeding at that point start with
very low doses of nutes and see how the plants react over a week or so, before deciding to up the dose, keep it as it is, or not feed at all for another week or two. Do some research on the feeding requirements of your strain as well.
