Hi all
I'm guessing most outside growers have this to contend with?? Whilst I don't have any problems at the moment (about 2 weeks into flower) I can see it happening.. Budrot I mean.. My greenhouse does get condensation inside.. What options do I have? I can't leave it open too much or when I'm not at home.. Setting up fans or anything electrical isnt possible either.

I did think about those things ermm, no idea what they are called, woolies used to sell them.. They are like plastic tubs with holes in and you can buy replacement inners.. They basically attract and hold in the moisture.. Would these help do you think?

Arghh I don't want a bit of condensation to kill off my hard work so far unsure.gif
Thanks, Nat

I put some air vents all around my greenhouse with a skewer,It took ages but it has helped the problem but not much.I try and leave the zips up a bit and hold the base down with a few bricks because a good gust of wind with the doors open and i'd be pulling it down from the top of nextdoors tree lol.gif.

Why? Is it because your neighbours may see?
The bottom line is that you will need to get some ventilation in there or you will almost certainly get bud rot at some stage.
If its glass greenhouse then remove some strategic panes or use a skewer on the plastic ones. I dont think the tubs would make much impression.

There are such things as solar powered greenhouse fans. I dont know how effective they are. I am thinking of giving them a go next year. Google CPS Solar.

Yes, because of the neighbours, although because of the way the door faces I don't think they'd be able to see.. I need to check it all out. My worry with fans (electrical or solar powered) is the noise.. Would seem odd I think.. Arghh this is much much harder than I thought.. I will make some air holes in the greenhouse tomorrow.. Do you reccomend top or bottom or does it not make much difference?

I seem to be on top of the odour for now, at least. 5x air fresheners from tesco inside gives a lovely whiff of flowers rofl.gif Will have to add maybe 50 more when later on in flowering though rofl.gif

Thanks.. I do realise that budrot will eventually get me with how things are which is why I am trying to sort it and prevent it now unsure.gif

Have you thought of a strip screen across the door?
Or do you think it might look draw attention at this stage of the game?
Otherwise make some holes all over as thesilk said.

IMO the first thing you should do is check how much the neighbour can see from his angle.

I have put 3 condensation blocks in my greenhouse, they have made no difference at all.
Ventilation is the way to go
natnat8484
Right, checked out what could be seen from all angles today, with the flap open.. ooerrrrrrr rofl.gif Nothing can be seen from neighbouring gardens so I will be keeping it open during the day now unless we have visitors due. Have also made lots of ventilation holes around it with hubbys soldering iron.. Not noticed a difference yet but I'm hoping that I will in a day or two.. Thanks guys biggrin.gif

Well the holes and leaving the door open seemed to work, when I went out this evening to cover them up all inside was dry, condensation all gone guitar.gif Yippieeeeeeeee biggrin.gif If I keep that up they might just be ok.. thanks again guys.

Last year I was wiping the inside of my greenhouse every morning to dry it out a bit - unfortunately later in the year the greenhouse doesnt get morning sun to dry it naturally.

This year I have grown my plants in the garden and will see if I can leave them and not use the greenhouse at all (unless torrential rain/winds are forecast) Lets hope for a good September/October. cool.gif

Why not make an inner door from grennhouse shade netting? You can't see through it, and it will let in air..

Thats what I am doing, they get more light and wind which is better than being stuck in a greenhouse.

For what it's worth.. I leave the top window open on the roof constantly and close my greenhouse door halfway at night.

I get most condensation on the inside of the roof, early hours of the morning, but by leaving the door and window open this drys up pretty quickly.

I have invested in some moisture absorbers but do not intend to use them until late september time.
My Passion #1's look like they'll be finished before the Swazi. I'm hoping as they'll be done first this will reduce moisture.

is the condensation that much of a problem now ? Im doing exactly the same as last year and using the same seeds and everything is fine. A little wet in the mornings but hey isnt all the garden this time of year ?

My passions love it ! ! Granted the door is open all night and all day spliff.gif spliff.gif spliff.gif

Nah the condensation isn't a problem at all.. It's the fisrt time i've grown Passions ever and can't believe how well they're doing.

Last year my greenhouse was a bit of a sorry state and grew some Master Kush (Nirvana), good success though it was an 'indoor strain' and did suffer a little budd mould. This year I took every single pane out, cleaned them and replaced the cracked ones.

Last year.. I found I was still waiting for my Swazi plant to finish off and towards late October time i think i was just fearing the frost.
