Scalling everything down now, and hoping to pull off a stealth grow of finest organic heb...
Am planning a micro grow in a small'ish cuboard, (H74, w80, d60)
Gonna go for either a 250red enviro with some blue leds or cf in for a bit of extra spectrum or get a 250hps in, ive got both so can kinda play around on that front.
will have some passive intakes, small desk fan on the lights, ionizer, oraganic compost and nutes, and a low odour strain (mandalas white satin, KCs NL, or nirvarnas blue mystiqe the options)
were i would love some input is regarding the fan/ filter set up.....
As space is at a minimum ive be considering using a 100mm silavent fan connected to a home made carbon filter (similar to whats seen in diy section) would this be a suitable package??? any ideas on fan noise levels??? and/or is it possible to reduce fans noise level??
I was hoping with a lower odour strains, combined with an ionizer and cf/fan package smells will be erradicated with a minimum of running noise....
Thus i can get down to the business of a fine micro grow,
cheers

From personal experience DIY carbon filters never cut it and with a domestic fan like you are suggesting you would get virtually no airflow. Good airflow is very important is a small space as it will heat up fast even with low wattage bulbs, and the plants (once they get going) will use the available CO2 very quickly. I would go with a regular RVK/Ruck fan filter package - you may get away with a 4inch, but a 5inch will give you the luxury of turning down the fan with a speed controller to reduce noise. Oh yeah and you would mount the fan and filter outside the box given the lack of room so that the fan is pushing smelly air into the filter (this is opposite to the normal way but works just fine in your situation)
Other ways of reducing noise are boxing the fan and filling it with expanding foam stuff.....DIY section.
Good luck....

When I set up for Pc grow (125w Blue CFl - vegging and a 250w Red CFL - flowering), I got a 'quite' showered extractor fan.
Found it to be far to noisy, tolerable I guess, but not stealthy at all.
Settled for 4 Pc fans, using a AC/DC 1amp adapter.

As for smell, series cba with carbon filters; too much ££, just using febreeze with 3-5 small plants.
