Did he lose any teeth? I wonder because that's often why you can't smoke after oral surgery. The empty sockets need to clot up properly and suction caused by smoking can cause the clots to pop out and then you end up with bare bone sockets ('dry socket') which take forever to heal and are apparently extremely painful.
I was told not to smoke the last time I had a tooth out. I smoked pipes up my nose for a day then moved onto very loose spliffs with wide roaches and tried to just breathe through them without applying too much suction. Ie don't close your mouth fully when you draw on them to avoid creating a clot-popping vacuum. No problems.

hey guys he cant smoke cos of the compound and they said its not good for the wound. he also lost two of his wisdom teeth so the suction thing could be why. he reckons after two weeks he is gonna smoke away but he is only gonna smoke pure canna (this is my first grow so we are still on dealer weed).i know how dirty tobacco and last night we were debating what effect canna smoke would have and we came to the agreement that its gotta be better on its own.
Hi, sorry to hear about your freind and hopes he makes a swift recovery.
e2a: I realise a tooth aint the jaw but its all connected

I have had two of my front teeth knocked out (one was a crown anyway((cracked in two after a stupid hyperventilating thing that was "cool" at school, ffs stupid or what)) and got knocked clean out, root and all, the guy had a fuck off big ring) and one wisdom tooth out, soon to be two. Anyway when i had the extractions, Nick, my dentist, really nice bloke and a very good dentist, who knows what im like explained that i needed lay off the cigs for as long as possible, knowing that i wouldn't wait the 12 or 24 hours or whatever it is they tell you to wait, because the NICOTINE in cigs reduces blood flow and will slow the healing process down and wont make a good clot as a previous poster has said. Im pretty sure if neat canna was smoked then the loss of blood flow would be minimal as compared to a baccy spliff or a fag.
I hope this is in some way helpful to your mates choice making about smoking a bit.
To be honest, even though i had been given some very good freindly advice from someone i trusted and respected, i still only lasted an hour without a fag and i had ripped a bong soon after, my sockets are healed good tho it took longer than it should so i was told and the best bit about being stoned i found was it took the ache and tenderness away from the fromt of my mind and made it more bearable. in no way did it eliminate the pain/tenderness when eating or brushing if it got banged or touched but the general feeling in the mouth was barely noticable most of the time.
I'd "Go for smoke" personally! Just not the cancer causing legal kind.
All the best, hope he heals up nice and quick.
Oh yeah as for the suction thing i was smoking and ripping bongs within four hours of all of my extractions, silly? maybe, but i didn't loose a single clot and all bar one of the front ones which i lost a small piece of jaw bone when it was removed and as a result the gum has sunk a bit have healed up very nicely indeed and i have no problems with them. (apart from the fucking falsey bridge clicking occasionally now, thats a weird sensation, feels like your teeth have turned at a funny angle, very odd for things that dont normally move).
