Alright 420?

Dont normally stray this side of the pond, but i had some news i thought the medical users would appreciate more than the recreational smokers.

My Grandma is getting on a bit now.
She has undergone, most recently and hip replacment which caused her great discomfort.

She is a firery woman, completely self sufficiant, you know the type! wink.gif
She hated being stuck in a chair not being able to do things for herself.

Her eldest son is a doctor, and though it hurt him to say it, he didnt think she'd ever be able to walk again.

During her recovery, she was moved to a home where she became very depressed.
I think it shocked her to think that one day she might have to come to such a place, now having lost her mobility.

She was very unhappy there, and desperately tried to get herself moved home with her sister, who incidently is just recovering at home from her second hip operation!

Eventually she was allowed to move back to her sisters, on the grounds that she wouldnt have to tackle any stairs.

She amazed everyone when to our relief, she began to walk again. Slowly at first, but surely she got back the mobility that i believe to be so important to her.

They gave her some pretty strong pain killers, which, sadly to say, she has become dependant on.

Even more unfortunately, they have strong side affects for her.
She has vivid, terrible nightmares which often wake her in the night and prevent her from sleeping.

Because of this, she became very anxious about taking her medication.

She couldnt sleep with them, she couldnt sleep without them. sad.gif

Then my mum suggested she tried using cannabis.
Now Grandma isnt a big smoker, so we started her small.
I would roll her very small joints, in an attempt to gauge the strength of high she wanted to achieve.

I rolled her small ones, big ones, made canna butter, made cakes and cookies. Until we found what worked best.

Its taken a while, sometimes the high was much to strong and ive actually had to talk my nan down on the phone before! lol.gif

Thankfully however, she rang me this morning after recieving the latest batch of cookies.
She says they're perfect, not too strong, not too weak. Just enough to relax her and allow her to sleep through the night un disturbed.

Hopefully this will allow her to drop the anti depressents and the sleeping pills, which were obviously starting to take their toll.

Im very proud of my nan for embracing such a controvercial medicine.
Shes quite a posh old gal. It makes me giggle to sit back and toke a spliff with her.
Im just glad that this herbal hobby of mine has enabled me to help someone in my family with some serious mental addiction.

To be quite honest i never thought she'd get such a relief from something that i smoke every day.

I guess ive learnt too.
Cannabis deserves our respect. Its got mine.

That's cool (well no, I don't mean that's cool, cos your gran is still unwell, but I mean it's cool that she's dicovered herb & it works for her). She must be a very special lady to have an open enough mind to consider it - shame there's not more of her generation with her sense! I hope the herb keeps doing the do (I suspect it will, too, unlike chemicals, a lot of which which stop working after long-term use so you have to up the dosage).

That's excellent news M8, well pleased for you.
But.... you younger folks! Why so surprised at the older folk having open minds? We lived through the sixties you know.... lol.gif

I'm told I enjoyed the sixties - sobered up in 1981! stoned.gif stoned.gif stoned.gif

thats a lovely story jammin, big respect for your nan and well played helping her with herb.

your story brought a tear to my eye... i watched my mum die slowly from the age of 10 to the age of 24 when she finally passed away having had 3 open heart operations and then finally dying of a failed heart transplant. i was there to see every single step of the way and it broke my heart. sad.gif

she died ten years ago and obviously she suffered tremendous pain throughout my youth right until she died. i just wish i had known back then about the benefits of the herb, im sure it would have helped her a great deal. she was a great lady, and your nan sounds the same, so mentally strong (and me so mentally fucked, its ironic really, i wish i had a 1/10 of my mother's mental strength)...

all the best, hope she continues to improve..
