Hello 420 !

I'm quite new here, just started my first grow... I just got news that my insurance payout is coming through (I broke my wrist in a car accident in December) and it's my boyfriends' 30th in September, so I decided to treat us to a long weekend away in the 'Dam I've only been once before, about 3 years ago in november, and he's been twice.

We're heading out on the 24th August for a long weekend and coming back on Tuesday. So 4 nights of heavenly goodness I can't wait!! Staying opposite Central Station so close to quite a few coffeeshops

As far as coffee shops go, last time we quite enjoyed Baba, good music to chill out to and a nice atmosphere. The rest of the places we went to weren't great. I've been reading some reviews here in an attempt to find some better places. Suggestions more than welcome! The site I used last time (the one with the map) has really dated reviews, and half the places have been bought over or have different staff now.

Also, we were really looking forward to doing some mushrooms again. Then realised they'd banned most types Last time we tried the philosophers stone and some mexicans, the mexicans were way more fun! I kinda ended up sleeping through the truffles From reading a thread here and from some google searches it seems they are still available "under the counter" from certain smart shops, although the last mention of this was in April/May sort of time. Anyone have a more recent experience of being able to get some?

Also looking for a decent club night to go to, had a look on some of the club sites but they're all in dutch and can't make any sense of them. Boyfriend prefers trance and stuff while I'm more into rock/metal, but I'm up for some good amsterdam dance clubs.

Any recommendations welcome, to make this a memorable trip!!

Last time in the Dam we spent most of our time walking around in a stoned haze, yeah I even walked into a lamp-post due to looking around me every way except forwards Hoping we can get some more productive things done this time, hoping for a sunny day to sit in the park and smoke a few Js...

Which reminds me, are most places cool with you still putting tobacco in spliffs, as long as you don't make it blatantly obvious? e.g. skin up discreetly ? I hope so, cause that dutch weed knocks me on my arse Maybe have to invest in a bong. Really want to try out a vaporiser as well, if they're good I'd quite like one for the house, as we have a child, would be so much healthier all around. Bit expensive to buy without knowing if I like it first though.

As far as coffeeshops go I generally find that one persons idea of a great coffeeshop can quite often be another persons idea of a complete dive, so it can be quite an individual thing. Also I have found that the staff that serve you can have a lot to do with the overall atmosphere and experience in the shop, sometimes you go into a reputable establishment and find some jumped up idiot working behind the counter.

I would personally check out Central coffeeshop on the Prins Hendrikkade as they have good cannabis at reasonable prices although they have a no smoking policy in the shop now which makes it a sort of score and leave type place, the quality and the value are normally very good though for the middle of Amsterdam.

De Dampkring & Tweede Kamer always impress me with the variety and quality of their smoke, I remember the Sour Diesel from last time which at E9 a gram was very good indeed, I also liked their Mexican Haze and their Riffman's hashish menu .

The Grey Area do provide excellent quality smoke even if it is somewhat over priced, they stock DNA genetics strains as well as others and a lot of American style strains. Don't expect to find a clean bong or a seat in the place, I normally score the weed from here and head over to Anydays on Spui Straat on the corner of Korte Kolksteeg to smoke it through a clean bong or try some of in through one of their Verdampers. Anydays also stock some nice smoke athough the prices have gone up somewhat in recent years.

For iceolator hash I always go to Haarlem as the prices ore a lot, lot cheaper than in the middle of Amsterdam.

Don't particularly fancy your chances with the magic mushrooms or anything as they really are trying to stamp out that sort of thing with foreigners in Amsterdam. The other year a French teenage girl got her hands on some and whilst tripping threw herself into a canal and subsequently died. Since tragedies like this they are making these substances increasingly harder for people to buy.

For a good night out check out the Escape Venue on the Rembrandtplein, it is one of the biggest clubs in Amsterdam, I went once and had an great night out. I decided on this club after checking them all out and wasn't disappointed, the bouncers also let me walk around smoking pure weed joints which was pretty good, iirc this was before the smoking ban though.

Most places won't allow cigarettes and give free herbal stuff to put in your joints although I have never tried it.
If the weather's good I recommend Vondelpark to go and chill and have a fat one. Opposite the entrance to the park is hard rock planet, and you can go out the back and sit by the canal with a nice cold one.
I so need to go again Hmmmmm maybe the kids would like to go camping in holland for their summer holidays! Just gotta convince the missus now

Hi, thanks for all the info Yeah, the reason we liked Baba was because the weed dealer was a really nice guy, actually made an effort to chat to us a bit, even though it was quite busy. He was really friendly, and gave us lots of info about the bud. I'm hoping to find more places like that this time around. I'll check out Central, it's close to where we are staying. We've got a smoking room at the hotel too (took some finding ). Tweede Kamer was the first place we stumbled upon on our last visit, but the place was jam packed, so we left and went to Dutch Flowers instead, it was a bit shit tbh. Wish we'd stayed in Tweede Kamer, read loads of good feedback on that place, at least I know where it is for this time, will try to catch it when it's less busy.

Got Grey Area on my list of places to visit too, heard some good things about their weed from a few people now. Haven't tried iceolator yet, hopefully we'll venture outside Amsterdam at one point, I would like to see more of Holland tbh. Visited a theme park about 14 years ago when I visited with my school, wonder if it's still there ... hmm...

Yeah I read about the French girl, also read that she was drunk, don't see them banning alcohol But yeah that's another debate Would be a bonus to try some again but we'll settle for some truffles I guess.

Hmm, maybe I should take note of the places with seperate smoking areas and we could get a list of places that let you smoke with tobacco. I'm up for trying the herbal stuff once anyways, will probably just buy a bong.
And yeah, I really really want to check out the park, apparently sometimes theres music and stuff going on there, fingers crossed for a sunny day

Here are my thoughts for you.......I've been more times than I could care to remember and twice within the last month.

Truffles are still around no problem (you probably slept because you didn't eat enough of them or consumed on a full stomach??).....in some places 'Mexican truffles' can be obtained discreetly. I can't promise that though.

I'd advise a visit to the Amsterdam Historical Museum.....cheap and well worth a look at the history of the city.
It is just off the main Kalverstraat shopping street.
The Rijksmuseum and the Van Gough are both worth visiting; as is the modern art museum in the same area.

De Bakkerswinkel on Warmoestraat do a cracking breakfast

Have a look at the Paradiso website - this is a superb (and legendary) music venue, well worth going to a gig here if there is someone on you like.

Haarlem is well worth the 15 minute train journey.

Finally, take plenty of money.........it aint a cheap place to entertain yourself.

Coffeeshop recommendations noted, happy that a lot of people seem to be recommending mostly the same places, writing them all down in my diary so I remember which ones when I'm over there. Hopefully I'll remember to make notes on them while I'm there, and report back.

I visited the Van Gogh while on the school trip, but it's been years. I'm always up for all that sort of stuff, have to try and convince my boyfriend though, he just gets stoned and can't be bothered moving... can't really blame him . Breakfast is included in our hotel, but the pancake place sounds awesome I'm a massive pancake fan so I'll be hunting this place out for sure MMm mmmm I can't wait

Found the Paradiso site off google, couldn't understand most of it, but have made a note to go check it out while I'm there and see what's on. The name rang bells as soon as I opened the site, probably seen it on TV or something.

Last time we were there it did seem a bit more expensive than the UK, but luckily this time around I've got insurance money to squander on tasty weed and pancakes Roll on August!!

The Pancake Bakery isn't just a breakfast thing.......they do all-sorts of fillings; sweet and savoury.
They are massive and a full one will sort you at lunch time until you are ready to eat again in the evening.

most of my smoke usually comes from grey area and dampkring

i didnt go in one coffeeshop that had a seperate area to smoke mixed
but then again i dont use baccy so i wasnt really looking for that

i think your best bet would be to go to a smoke-friendly bar like nes

also id recommend trying some nice hash, as good hash is rare in the uk and its something different

I'm definitely heading to both Grey area and dampkring, both are close to the hotel, and everyone's recommending them.

Boyfriend picked up some nice hash last time we were there, caramello and another I can't remember the name of. Both were great Might try some icolator or something as well.

yeah caramello is some nice shit

ice-o-lator i find is VERY over-priced in dam, considering its just made from trim

and its not as good as the stuff you can make at home with bubblebags

I have come to the conclusion that the reason for that is because a lot of the 'bubblehash' that gets sold in Amsterdam is mainly comprised of catching sac resin glands (not full melt, mainly resin stems) and a mixture of oil, probably second quality. This forms a type of inferior jelly that a lot of the coffeeshops try and pass of to gullible tourists as bubblehash.

Yeah I'm gonna try and get out of amsterdam for an afternoon or something, see what else Holland has to offer.

Came across those bubble bags last night looking at a grow site, they look pretty easy to use tbh. Might save up my leaves from a few grows and buy a set, doesn't look too hard to do.

Glam up and go to the Supperclub one night, its a beautiful club where you can drink, eat, dance and chill out, all in the comfort of your own bed.

the chocolope weed from paradox was excellent

also tried some southern thai that was a nice daytime smoke
& didnt get me too wrecked.

got some nice super maroc from abraxas thats quite tasty,
& if you try the green house effect, theyve got some nice squidgy pervati hash,
an excellent smoke avoid their skuff tho. its

Try to get a copy of the latest edition of the get lost guide (11th edition). It really helps you.
From it I have tried the foodism and the indian on the continuing of haaarlemestraat (or something like it,) wich is the road of barney, greenhouse and dampkring. Ate in both places and was really pleased. Foodism is really cool....and indian...well, it is excellent.
For the weed, if you go to the usual places you won't be disappointed. I didn't actually find homegrown fantasies very good.

Hire a bike!!! It is mandatory
