http://www.uk420.com/boards/index.php?show...5&hl=thripsIf you go into the Pest Control section in the Problem Solver forum, select the Search function on the top right of your browser and type in "thrips", there's a few pages of info on the subject. Hope you get it sorted mate, best o' luck!

the dont really look like thrips looking at em, though the did at first, so sorry for the title, it does sound like Symphilids with them crawling along the compost when watered, but does'nt really look like them either, saying that the mega small

dan

they do like damp conditions ,following a wet dry schedule can keep numbers down
dont let them dry out to the point where the plant wilts, gnat off will kill them,
there not much of a problem unless thers loads of them
DanKu
Jul 29 2009, 05:14 PM
yeah been following wet/dry cycle, was gonna let them fully dry out so cheers for letting us know that.
not sure how bad it is so will get some gnat off to make sure
thx

the big thrips indicator is black dots on the underside of the leaf (tiny black dots that dont move) the black dots are thrips shit, and thrips can be a bugger to get rid of and can ruin a crop easily. take care and be vigilant
B&Q do a product that work's a treat for thripes or mites. Can't remember name but it comes in an orange spray bottle.....

Westlands Bug attack and defense comes in a orange bottle, it's great for thrips and supposedly spidermite too, maybe thats what you were thinking of Raz?
Danland get some of this stuff (hope you're not in flower though)

hey kc, yeah 5 weeks in flower. have that gnat off, was hoping that would work.
Gnat off is great for killing larvae in the compost, as far as i know it will do feck all for thrips or borg dude. I think some of the lads use something called sbpi in flower but i don't know much about it meself
5 weeks in flower i wouldn't be spraying the bug attack by the way (just to clarify)
Not much help soz dude

what KC said
Sb plant invigorator is organic and can be used in flower for thrips and borg
it kills on contact so i doubt youll get them all this far into flowering but you can keep the numbers down
spraying in flower is a pain

try not to wet the buds too much, or bud rot could be a problem
its best if you can remove them flower room spray wait till dry then put back
if you cant then have your ventilation on full

right so giving gnat off wont do a thing, ah well least its their for back up on other stuff i can get. the doesnt seem to be many from what i can see but the their.
none of my plants dry at the same time so i reckon the just move to which evers dampest at the time cos i follow wet/dry cycle pretty well i like to think.
yeah i dont fancy spraying when buds are at this stage, i cant see anything on leaves just under/in the compost the pop up when i water then go back down.

are you saying that all your pests are in the compost !!
you find thrips and spider mite on leaves not in compost
DanKu
Aug 10 2009, 02:58 PM
yeah all in the compost, white little things the are, look like little white spiders to me, the thripes bit i think i got wrong, but to be honest am confused of what the are now

, ive seen nothing on leaves just some little black dots which not sure what that is.
just when i water, soon as the water soaks into the compost the white bugs pop up crawl over the top then back down agen

nah cant see anything on leaves, so gnat off will kill anything under the compost?
yeah ive been on that a few times, just been back to it now, doesnt seem to look like any tbh, sounds like Symphilids but doesnt look like them, could be springtales mabye. ill give it some gnat off next water an see how that goes and keep a look out on the leaves.
thanks agen

As a side note Gnat Off's active ingredient is Bacillus Thuringiensis toxin and should work on a range of pests. So long as you can get the pest in question to ingest some of it (ie spray on leaves, pest eats leaves, pest stops feeding and dies) it will stop most insects from feeding which generally results in death fairly soon after.
