Looking to clear out my Garden of shrubs, Plants, Bushes ect ect. Some of them I have tried to cut out with a saw. others I treid to prune to death. One I put a bin on top of and worked a treat. but the others are to big for a bin But I am finding that no matter what I do they grow back with in a couple of weeks. What would be my best and most cost effective way of getting rid of them.?

If you can find 'bi-active roundup' itll do the trick, the roundup you get from garden centers wont cut it! this stuff is in a big bottle and will set you back 35 notes but its very effective and it will kill them down at the roots!
failing that good old hard work with a fork and spade

hey ratdog
the 'bi-active roundup' i suggested DOES not harm animals in any way and wont hang around in the soil either, it only kills plants that it comes in contact with ABOVE soil level. Basicaly its concentrated salt that the plant contacts with and spreads through its system eventualy killing it at the roots. pet/child/animal friendly

Digg them up one of them I cant even get into properly cos its right in the corner and and the branches are really tightly packed. i think I will just need to take your advice ratdog and not be so darn bone idol and digg them up. but one of them may need the bi-active as its hard to even get to.

the trick is m8, use a a wood saw to cut through the trunk as close to the ground as you can get it, lying on ground to do this if you have to remove bush, now you have lots of space to dig out the stump

Sorry Poacher, Well Jerzy you can compromise with the hard to reach one But you better get digging

I am ashamed to say I have some Roundup but I am debating as to whether I should use it.
Monsanta (Behind Codex Alimentarius) is the company who make it. I will root out the thread and link it.
I cant even get a saw into it I have tried so here is a pick so you can see what I am talking about.

fuck me m8, av got bigger bushes in ma rollin tin, get your arse on the deck, lying on your left shoulder, get a normal chippies saw in both hand and then saw like fuck till you reach the other end, pulling the bush over as ye go to stop it weighing on the saw blade...aye ah kin see u dont have much room there wi the fence n that ....short, aggressive strokes are the way froward
edit. on second thought i might even just dig it out with cutting it ..doesn't look in the way of the spade ..and you will have something to hold onto

Im currently killing a well invasive Bamboo with Glyphosate (N-(phosphonomethyl) glycine) Roundup patented by the vile Monsanto who spray it on coco crops in total disregard of the people living there! (senior moment there)
But it's working , sorry ratdog but i wont be growing on the reclaimed space for 3 years but i want it back

On a tangent tree hugging note anyone thats tried to remove roots from trees/shrubs/bamboo will probably realise that roots hold the surface of the earth together ?

PMSL @ farmer boy (townies just dont think the same fella) If you are feeling lazy and cant be arsed digging it out, cut it of close to the ground drill it a few times (the more the better) fill holes with diesel and cover with black plastic.

Roundup is evil.
DON'T USE IT.
Don't believe the shit (From Monsanta...)about how it doesn't harm wildlife etc.. Just think - who tested that, and who paid them?
Apart from anything else you'll just end up with a dead stump that will season and become even harder to remove.
You need a mattock ideally, and a winch for larger stuff like Cambium said, but I have removed 14" Cherry Trees with just a spade, shovel and old wood saw.. Ideally you should leave them as tall as possible, for leverage.
I've looked at your (Philadelphus?) and the clump forming shrubs ARE a bugger, but they don't root too deep. Dig a trench around it about 12" away from the base, and sever any roots you come across. Dig about a foot down, then excavate underneath.

Cut the tree down to a stump. Drill into the stump in several places and squirt in diesel - do that every day for a month - that will kill the stump, including all roots. After several months pull up the stump, it will come up easily.
I cant even get a saw into it I have tried so here is a pick so you can see what I am talking about.

Been clearing a similarly shrubbed area the past week mate
Dig around it then get under it with a spade or fork, job done.
Old boy next door commented on how quick I got it all cleared.

There is now a wealth of evidence that glyphosate requires worldwide health warnings and new regulatory review. Meanwhile, its use should be reduced to a minimum as a matter of prudent precaution.
