late sep to early nov is best for planting, harvest is may to july depending on var, soft necks store longest, hardnecks taste best, look at dt browns, dobies etc web links are the head of the this forum.
Solent Wight is a good long keeper softneck on light to medium soil, sprint is a fast hard neck on any soil.
Nice one ot1, think I'll go for solent wight next, just about to prep the bed for sep planting.
Does anyone know how far apart garlic should be planted?
Or if I wanted to yield 50 medium-sized bulbs per year, how big would my patch be? I got 15 decent sized bulbs from that red container above, if I made it 4-5x bigger, should be enough for 50 bulbs?
Cheers
