Im setting up a growdrobe and I was wondering how large my fan and carbon filter should be.
The growdrobe I have gotten is a:

125cm high
70cm wide
41cm deep

Those are exact measurments. So.... What fan and carbon filter?

100mm with a stubby cf sounds about right for you but what light are you planning on using

250w= 100mm
400w= 125mm (possibly 150mm)
600w aint really a goer in your space

Going to use 200W envirolites, one for veg and one for flower

100mm is what I was thinking but from ppl said to me before is to staw away from bathroom fans. But as I did some research some of the bathroom fans (100mm) had a 360m3 coverage.
So Im quite confused about what kind of fan to get...

yea stay away from the bathroom fans they aint made for continous use and are pretty damn loud. have a look on greens horticulture website itll give you an idea of the type of fan you want

Envy u guys for having such a huge selection. Unfortunatley I do not live in britain and the selection I have here is crap. The cheapest ventilation package I find is around 350£, one fan, carbon filter and connections... sad.gif
ANd if I place an order from outisde the country and it is over 20£ they inspect it to then place a 25% toll on it. And if they then see what it is Im fooked sad.gif

Thats why Im looking for cheapest possible solutions... 350£ is too much

ouch seems like your in a needs must situation then numbbud mate and may have to get the bathroom style one (you may have to bare in mind they have a shorter life than the ones we use, rucks, prima's, rvk's).

have a look in the DIY section to see if you can get the gear needed to make yourself a CF to save a few quid

also try a web search for wherever your from using the words

prima
rvk
ruck
vent axia (do some real good fans these chaps and with them selling bathroom style ones aswell you may strike lucky)

I'm sure that wherever you are will have some manner of electrical/industrial suppliers that sell these items - after all, they're not illegal and are widely used in restaurants/hospitals/office buildings etc., and you'll save a few bob too, as the mark-up that nearly all grow-shops put on these items is outrageous... pinch.gif

I reckon they get away with it because these items are harder to find than most - i.e. you'll not be buying a Ruck/RVK from B&Q or Homebase.

I'd get a larger fan, too, as those 100's are pretty puny, let alone when you put carbon filter/silencer on them - larger fans are less noisy too, and you can always turn a large fan down with a controller if need be, but you can't turn a small fan up beyond 100% during a heatwave or whatever. wink1.gif

Thx for a well educative reply m8 smile.gif I have thought about getting a fan somewhere else but its so hard to find anything outside the only two growshops we have in this country that I just gave up tbh tongue.gif Will search more ofc. And reason why I want so small fans is that my planned growdrobe is a bit small for anything bigger. tongue.gif

Bear in mind that the fan(s) (& filter) don't have to live *in* the actual growdrobe, they can be placed outside of it with just the end of the ducting attached.

Also keep in mind the matter of your intake - you sound like you're not too wealthy at present, and if you're just getting the one fan to use as an exhaust for now that passive intakes (aka holes) need to be 5-7x the area of the exhaust to work effectively. Obviously, having another, slightly smaller fan, as an intake is ideal.

If it's stealth you're after in particular, you could have your fan outside the 'drobe in a DIY acoustic enclosure (a box filled with foam or whatever) - this will quiet the fan enormously (well, as far as vibrational noise is concerned) and also look less obtrusive (you could have a ply box and have it on top of the 'drobe, for example).

Have a look (if you haven't already) at some of the grow diaries here on UK420 to get an idea of the huge amount of options available to you. wink1.gif

Thx to all that takes time to reply here smile.gif Appriciate it smile.gif
I think 200W will do me fine to start with smile.gif It is my first time and I have space restrictions so it will have to to atm smile.gif

Another thing guys... Just called my friend, he works in the industrial ventilation business and he will get me 100mm bathroom industrial fans. Best there is out on the market for peanuts! biggrin.gif He said that those fans have a lifetime for like 5 years running 24/7 and they are VERY silent. Ballbearings ones ^^ He has been working in the business for 5 year so I trust him smile.gif Well, unless someone has any experience with such fans? Open for comments. Would this work?

I have looked at many and I learn every minute I spend in here smile.gif So I can one minute be totally blank when it comes to some issues and well educated the next smile.gif
I am planning on placing the vent and filter inside for serious stealth reasons. I have a thread at groeroom design where I have posted a drawing of mine. (Blueprint) There is one mistake to it but im sure its so obvious that I dont need to describe the change to my drawing ^^
Tbh I have been spending 5-6 hours a day after work for the last 2 days on uk420 smile.gif Wish there would be a way to delete many of my old threads I started during the last one week wink1.gif
