Thought I'd start a diary type thread and keep all my random newbie mumblings in one place biggrin.gif

My unknown plants appear to be recovering from their surgery.. In my newbie ignorance, I didn't know about topping or cropping, LST'ing or 12/12 flowering and before I knew it I had 2x 5' monsters on my hands in a 5' greenhouse that weren't yet in flower... So I did something to them.. I'm not sure if you guys call it croping topping or whatever, maybe you call it newbie stupidity.. Anyways they got bent over and tied down.. both stems snapped badly but something is getting through as the new growth is pointing skywards and nothing has died yet.. Started covering the greenhouse with an old gazebo cover a couple of weeks ago but didn't think it was working so bought myself new greenhouse big enough to cover the plants only.. Been doing that for 3 nights now.. I Think I have flower.. noticed today at the top of one of the stems.. looks different to new leaf growth and has lots of hairy bits yahoo.gif Will take a macro shot of it tomorrow in daylight..

Recieved my 3x fem LRs yesterday so popped them iin wet tissue in the airing cupboard and this morning I have 3 little tadpoles yahoo.gif I have popped them into some soil and put back in the airing cupboard today, will bring them out into the light tomorrow and hopefully I will see them pop up quite soon.. The reason for me growing the LRs ..? I was losing faith in my monsters after snapping the stems.. too late to start anything else I thought and curious to see the midget variety grow rofl.gif

Sooo thats how it stands today.. Will leave with a couple of photos..

Final picture is toadie who has taken up residence in the greenhouse guitar.gif Sometimes when I go inside, he hops underneath and sits outside as pictured, other times he stays to watch me. biggrin.gif

Best of luck to you all guitar.gif Nat x

Rightttt.. Few pics to add biggrin.gif First up is Toadie/Froggy, he was paying me another visit so I got a nice shot of him ! Also my baby auto's 3 days after sprouting..

natnat8484
Next up is my unknown strain in flower yippieeeeeeee, well at least I THINK its in flower.. please could anyone in the know take a guess at how far in,, I think just a week, 2 at most? I don't know what they are therefore have no idea what to expect from them.. Also sorry for the picture quality, I will try to get some in outdoor sunlight in the next few days.. Had to hide them in the bedroom today as had family visiting who I knew would want to snoop in the greenhouse rofl.gif

natnat8484
Last 2 pictures.. These 'hair bits' are appearing mostly at the tips of stems but starting to appear all over the plant now and getting hairier by the day biggrin.gif

Already broken one stem!! Do you guys have any idea when I can stop the 12/12 without them reverting back to veg now? Its pretty awkward covering them up because their outside so I'd love to be able to stop that as soon as I can...
Thanks guys and best of luck with your own, Me x

The purpose of 12/12 is to influence the plant into producing flowers, the part you want to dry and smoke; so if that is your intention you will need to be covering them till our daylight hours drop to 12 at around the end of sept for england. The work is worth it don't lose faith smoke.gif

Hello biggrin.gif
Just a small piccy update, not much to report. Big plants appear to be flowering without any problems so far. The auto's are shooting up, I repotted them today so I buried most of the stems. I think toadie might have left home, Not seen him for several days now sad.gif

Last 2 pics, I need to practise with macro more 34.gif

Indoor growers set their timers to 12/12 as a conventional convenience, and it does indeed induce flowering.

However, outdoor plants will flower when they detect that days are getting shorter. I find this occurs end of July/start of August.
12/12 has no meaning outdoors, in fact the girls will be well on the way to harvest by the time the equinox occurs on September 21/22 - and it is that date everywhere in the world, not just England.

Hi,
Sooooooo, do I not need to be covering them now? I have been covering them up for 12 hours each night, so I'm not sure if I stop covering them they will recieve more than 12 hours light they would revert? Its a royal pain in the arse remembering though and I'm scared of damaging the plants now they are so big. Also I find the inside of the cover is damp in the mornings so won't help my condensation issues... Thanks, Nat
natnat8484
Toadie is back, oh yeahhhhh guitar.gif Couple of shots of the handsome chap, yes he IS sitting in a certain pot containing a certain plant, he has good taste cool.gif and also another of my flowering beauty biggrin.gif

natnat8484
Just a piccy update of these in flower biggrin.gif

natnat8484
Think 1 of my plants has hermie'd sad.gif Can somebody confirm this?

Good plant first.. and a random pic of my *highly successful* (snigger) auto's rofl.gif

natnat8484
Now its the dodgy hermie plant.. I can't see any balls as such.. the whole plant has changed though.. it was a fully flowering female and has changed to this, it looked identical to my other.. they are both identical clones.. Notice the lack of trichs now and the single leaves?!

net2-3
Hi, just found your diary for the first time! Plants and toadie are looking great and the force flowering is working a treat biggrin.gif I'm no great expert as I've never had a hermie but I can't see any male flowers on that plant either, I wouldn't be worried that it looks a little different from the other at the moment.

Edited to add: Have you checked all over the plant for balls?
ouncyboy
I dont believe its a hermy i think its trying to re veg they somtimes do this if the light cycle changes.
outdoorz 1983
hey nat...One way to tell is to open a piece of the bud to check if there our any seeds.if u find little green under developed seeds somethings definatly hermied...goodluck!!
