Full Version: Coffeeshop Weed - Contaminated?

Hey all,

There are threads here comparing/evaluating weed quality that I've seen, but I haven't seen any relating to contamination.

What I forget is that cannabis isn't legal in Amsterdam, just tolerated - surely this means there isn't proper regulation? In which case, is the weed in coffeeshops over there likely contaminated or is it going to be pure?

Thanks!

The thing with coffeeshop weed is that if you don't know what your looking at, or just look gullible then they will more than likely try and sell you dodgy stuff. Having said that I have found that this is only really a problem in the less reputable establishments.
I have seen shaken or skuffed weed being sold out there a lot, especially in multi gram deals and such. I carry a loupe around with me and inspect the weed before I buy it. If they have any problem with me doing this then I just go elsewhere as this speaks volumes about their produce to me.
I have seen sprayed weed out there once when I was with some friends. I think we were in Rasta Baby (used to be a good place but recently it has gone downhill with pre weighed deals that include the weight of the baggy 34.gif ), anyways my mate went up and bought a bag of the not so popular weed on the menu I think it was called mixed fruits or something. He came back and opened it up and it was obvious from the offset that it has been sprayed with something dodgy, I said to take it back to the counter and exchange it for something decent which he did with no problems from the owner.
Just have a good look at your weed and hash before you buy it to inspect the quality, if they have a problem with this then go elsewhere.

I've only been to the Dam a few times and TBH I not found anything particularly special over there.....

The last couple of times I took me own bubble hash, I did buy a bit of Amnesia Haze, and a bit of Temple Ball, but I'd rather be smoking me own....

Once you get used to your own weed there's nothing to beat it really....

I wouldn't be at all surprised if, especially in the bigger, more commercial shops, there is contaminated weed/resin, tumbled weed....I do remember going to a couple of places looking for some SSH and got shown some still damp bud in a baggie.......

I'm sure there's some really good stuff going around in NL, but probably not in the coffee shops wink1.gif

As with most questions, there is no black/white answer here.

Just about everything said so far is true. There are coffeeshops who will happily & deliberately sell sub-standard goods. Not just in the tourist areas of the 'dam, either!

But there are also shops which are dedicated to higher standards.

Of course, growing your own is still the best way to be certain of the heritage & quality of your 'percy'. But remember - The guy who makes the best home-brewed beer in the world....

Depends on the shop, look out for the same things you would over here...
