Full Version: Driving Up Into Netherlands

Evening everyone biggrin.gif

Going to be driving up to Amsterdam middle of August. Can't wait. 3rd time over there but this time a bit less for the weed tis time. Last couple of times I've spent far too much time in the coffee shops so I'm going to try out the nemo museum, botanical gardens etc... Also going to go for a drive around the Holland countryside.

This is roughly the route we will be taking from Brussels. Driving from UK to Brussels, staying the night, then going up to Dam. Because we are going to be taking our time getting there and stop of at towns on the way where would be the first time we could get any weed? I've heard the customs on the ferry's are a lot harder to get bud through than at the airport. Not sure if i'm going to risk taking any with us for the drive so will be eager to get some smoke as soon as we get to Netherlands. I won't be smoking and driving before anyone gets the wrong idea. The gf will be doing the driving whilst we're all smoking. Designated driver lol.gif

Also another question. What are the checks actually like on the ferry? Last two times I've flown I've brought some goodies back with me but heard some horror stories about the ferry. If anything I would have thought they were less likely to have sniffer dogs there because of all the holidayers from france.

Thanks everyone biggrin.gif

Isn`t it very flat?

Flat but will be lots to see. Want to see some windmills and would also like to go for a drive over this. Have a mate that drove over that and he said when the weather is nice the views are stunning.

I live in brussel!!! smile.gif
Yes, amsti is pretty near.
Also they give wonderful bargains on train tickets for the wickend so no need of a designated driver wink1.gif

But why the hell are You staying in brussels may I ask???
Go directly to the dam!!! biggrin.gif

Now, I haven't been to too many places in holland. I have been to maastricht. Nice city, it almost seems switzerland BUT it hasn't got a soul. At all.
I really rushed out of it.
Another place to avoid is rotterdam. Even the guides call it "the city without an heart".
Utrecht is nice if You are interested in university towns.

Go to haarlem, near amsterdam. Cute and real holland. In the dam absolutely (if You haven't already been there of course) go to the van gogh museum and the risjk museum.
Also try and see for the bad and breakfasts around holland. In more then a town they offer, included with the fee, your personal tiny boat. Why use a car when You can sail???

And btw, please please please, let us know tha places you see, so i can get advice wink1.gif

I would second Breda as a place to stop off, it's a really nice small town (good countryside nearby too) - I was there a fortnight ago. I am still enjoying what I purchased there!

I visited Pax de Boot and Paradijs, both good coffeeshops in the centre of town with reasonable prices and friendly staff (this is most important to me), however they are both quite small. I bought a load of hash and weed at both places for between 8 and 10 Euros a gram.

I haven't visited Purple Rain, but it has a few bad reviews on the coffeeshop directory.

Hi ocimonogre,
I'm staying in brussels for a couple of nights in august, because the travel and hotel were really cheap cool.gif
how easy is it to get hold of some nice smoke there? i was thinking about heading over the border to a coffeeshop in maastricht, but am not sure if i would have the time!
i may just sample the vast array of good beer that belgium is famous for tongue.gif
is there anything else you could reccommend seeing or doing whilst in brussels?
peace
