Hi Guys, my plants are just about to enter week 8 of 12/12 and today for the the 1st time ever I decided to check on them during lights out. To my horror instead of the lights going out at 10 this morning they were still on at 2.30 this afternoon. I pushed the plug/timer and the lights went off. My question is should I continue the 12 hours dark from 2.30 or leave the lights to come back on at 10 tonight?

I know the lights went out last Weds at the correct time as I changed the res and they went off while I was working but they could theoretically have been on 24/24 since then, although looking at them they seem fine.

This is a major kick in the proverbials as I HAVE to chop by 29/7 which would have been exactly 9 weeks.

The timer is being replaced later today when lights on time has been decided.

Any help with this would really be appreciatedl.... or the number of a good counseller cry.gif

I'd keep to your usual 10/10. If its a one off they should be fine, if its been a while changing it now wont help.
Good luck m8, hope they turn out ok.

I agree carry on as normal

You got a contactor?

'cause without its a very high risk of fire eek.gif

and yeah, plants should be fine .

Happened to me for several days I think when I was very near the end, didn't seem to make any difference and still yielded about the same as usual...and no hermies eitherPut them back on 12/12 and in a week you would have forgottten about it

Some video i seen on youtube of Canadian growers....your on week 8 i dont know how long you need to flower for...but on all there grows on the last two weeks of flower they change from 12/12 back 18/6 they say there plants actually benefit from it..so you should be ok

I love you guys, will take the noose down in the garage now and proceed as normal. I do have a contactor so hopefully no fires for me, will be checking all connections later just in case.

Thanks guys, feel much happier now.

Peace

what is a contactor unsure.gif

Basically it is a relay that absorbs the initial surge from using high power lamps. A 600 watt lamp is only drawing 2.5 amps when running (600w/240 volt = 2.5 amp) so in theory you could use a 3 amp fuse. The problem would be that to get the lamp to start needs more power so the initial surge is much higher than 2.5 amp. Using a contactor/relay absorbs the surge so your fuse won't blow.

Whilst the above is true thumbsup.gif
a contactors purpose in our situation is to protect from fires that occur when the contacts inside basic timers arc (they're what can't handle the surge of a HID )

just so people don't think '' i'll just keep changing fuses ''
