Hi folks,

Well as the title says, I am wondering if my edibles will help keep my airway clear as smoking canna seems to do.

cheers.gif

KKaeser
MJ has the complete opposite effect on me, increase in nasal blockage and respiratory wheezing, im jealous.

Do you think its the canna per se that is clearing you up or the act of smoking? Do cigarettes have the same affect? If you've vapor'd does it also clear you up?

Im very interested as the blocking up really pisses me off, and if i know I have to give a presentation or make a speech that day I cant touch the stuff.

My sympathies. Canna used to block me up when I first started smoking but now that I smoke regularly (few bong hits a day) it actually keeps my breathing way clear in a similar fashion to asthma breathers (I'm also asthmatic).

Not sure if it is the smoke or not, hence my question. wink1.gif I don't smoke no nasty corporate fags. nea.gif

Currently I am very sick with chest congestion and can only take tiny puffs off my pipe. It cleared up my breathing but my sinuses are a bit drippy. Probably from being sick? rofl.gif

I'm gonna try a 1/4 to 1/2 canna cookie before going to work tomorrow. Long hours, being sick and a fuckin corporate atmosphere have made me a real grouch. taz.gif I told the show manager that he looked like a delivery boy today. 34.gif doh.gif THAT went over well! I was close to raging when I got home and soon as I took just a few tokes my whole mood lightened considerably.

I'll report on my breathing experiment (at work! lol.gif ) on the 'morrow.

Well worst case scenario i think you will still have all the good mood altering effects, just hope you got the quantity right lol.gif. I think the throat thing however is down directly to smoking it tho? the interaction of the smoke and the membranes? but stoned for work is always good. cool.gif
KKaeser
I feel your pain, the days I cant toke and have to put up with the morons straight are some of the longest.

Yea I don't touch cigs either. Maybe try a bit of light bulb vapor'n to test your curiosity.

eh? huh.gif I am on a pennisula so the ocean is not that far away.

Noticed that my topic here is on the front page. blushing.gif

Just to mention, I still feel a bit sick but my cough has gone away (about 95% anyway).
Randalizer
Wee update.

On the train for work. Ate half a cookie (a whole cookie gives me a mild but plesant buzz) and just before leaving took a tiny puff on my pipe.

Now I woke up this morning (sweaty) feeling pretty good but still sick, and my chest especially had felt clear (from the puffs just before bed last night? g.gif ). However my light toke did produce a coghing fit and it feels like my chest is trying to clear itself.

I should perhaps mention that this my 7th day on this job and my days have averaged 10hrs a day. Today should be a 14 hour day. 34.gif Still have not had my morning cuppa yet. I'll get that at work, along with my 2nd breakfast.

Over many years i've found cannabis (smoked or eaten) to be the best 'mucolytic agent' & 'expectorant' by far.

For me, this means that getting cannabis inside me, quickly starts to lower the viscosity & dissolve mucus within me.....which of course means it then needs ejecting.....bad.gif

..on bad days it can take me several pipes & several hours of coughing the shite up before it slows down then stops, but at least...from a few min's after i start smoking i feel a progresive improvment...

It takes me from a state whereby i can manage to do almost nothing at all (even slight movements can tire me out) to having an 'almost' normal ability to stand & walk as the extra oxygen starts to reach my leg muscles.

Also, while i'm in the bunged up state, everything about life is unpleasant (depression..&..)...
cannabis soon alters this for something much more tolerable, even laughter.

The important bit, 'Yep' eating it works as an Expectorant/Mucolytic, though not as fast as a pipe or bong...
..as nasty as it may be..don't be put off by the snot that starts to come up as you toke...once that's outa the way everythings new & shiny-ish.

Thanks everyone! cheers.gif I'm at work right now and I'm certainly in a better mood. The notable item is that I am enjoying chit chatting where as yesterday I was snarling at everyone.

My chest deffinately feels better meaning I can take deep breathes. I'm still coughing a bit but everything clears easier now. Senior Ratty I agree I should be resting but luckily the work is not hard (idiots aside) and I can't afford to call in sick.

Gimp on a fish n chips wrapper?!?!? rofl.gif

I also continue to smoke when I am ill , I find it seems to help me clear colds quicker , it does also have the benefit that even if it doesnt clear your airways I am normally to stoned to care that im ill in the first place smile.gif

So thanks again everyone for sharing something here. I had a great day at work. I'm a stronger believer in the proper medical usage of canna than ever before! thumbsup.gif

over the years i got a way of thinking about medicine. medicines are mainly chemical. using prescribed medicine to cure an ailment just might cause another ailment, and it can take you into old age always ailing from this and that. i admit i take an odd panadol if i have an headache before i go to work if its a bad headache, but thats it, i take no other medicines, i've never had 1 single antibiotic. coneuquently i dont suffer ailments often. i never go out my house until my high peaks. i think cannabis chills me to a point of serenity, makes the stress go away, chills the soul and repels the demons.

a while back i had a really bad cold i added about a teaspoon of resin from my grinder to a mug of horlicks, within an hour the stuffiness had completely gone it was great, especially as i was struggling to smoke!! the cold seemed to strike as i cut out tobacco in my joints and i was coughing up all sorts. now im smoking pure (except for a few strands of baccy during the day) but sometimes i cough like mad is that normal or is my weed to rough, it wasnt flushed that long. my breathing in general feels better since i cut tobacco out, like the lung capacity is fuller and more air getting in.

i've been finding certain food, even certain food combinations have been doing that to me. n i've been pretty much been majorly off the smoking and toking for ages. it might just have been julian mckeith givin' me autosuggestions to give myself psychosomatic illnesses every time i eat those certain combinations though... i cant rule that out without better memory recall... tho i did spend alot of my childhood sniffly.

so much about balances of nutrients. where one man may be deficient, another may have an overabundance blockage, and then if they both toke the same, it can come out with polar opposite outcomes.

I suffer from hayfever, particularly blocked nose; would the expectorant qualities of cannabis likely reduce this or just agitate it further?

EDIT: Oh, I see this has already been discussed to some inconclusive extent - I guess there's only one way to find out!
Randalizer
it might help, but I would think that you would want to ingest as little as possible and only edibles if you can. I find sub-getting high doses to be best for therapeutic effects, at least in regards to what I went through these past few days.

Again, it might be dosage dependent. I think while I was really sick, my respiratory track was more sensitive, but small puffs seemed okay and the effect was much quicker. I do find if I smoke a ton of pot and late at night (when I'm fatigued), I get really stuffed up.
