Just thought I'd show of my newly popped seeds at the same time as asking a quick question.

I've heard that the Malanas don't really need any feeding, but I'm unsure if this will be the case for most RSC strains.

Currently growing are 2x Lebs, 2x Mazar and 1x Kerala (the other one didn't make it).

They are currently in 2 inch pots, B&Q cutting and seedling compost, 9 days from the seeds hitting the wet kitchen towel.

I was thinking of going for some JAB with added JI. Last (current) grow I used Westland Plus advanced peat free, but I didn't like it at all - I prefer soil with a much more fluffy consistency.

I guess my main question then is, will the JAB + JI be too strong for these? Should I just go for an average multi-purpose?

Well, anyway, here they are - they really are flying! thumbsup.gif Very vigourous yahoo.gif

Cheers mate.

They were given their first dose of plant magic essence on sunday, and they'll be getting the same every week - I've had really bad lsf problems lately, so if i start early, I'm hoping it won't bother me too much.

I've managed to burn the tips (only very slightly). I'm pretty sure it's a combination of this crazy hot weather we're having, and the plants growing up a little too close to my 20w cfl's.

I'd appreciate an answer on the soil to go for though unsure.gif - the biggest leb has another day, 2 days maximum I reckon before it'll need re-potting and I don't wanna nute burn 'em with too hot of a soil russian.gif

B&Q multi-purp...

You think the JAB will be too hot then I take it?

Not got a B&Q here unfortunately sad.gif but I'll go and see what Homebase have to offer. They should have a couple of multi-purpose that should fit the bill.

Cheers for the reply Mr CFL

I migrated from West+ advanced to west+ multipurpose as i didn't like it, much the same reasons as you.

I love the west+ MP. Holds water well, plants love it! rooting in about 4 days so far. Leaving them 8 days to root super well.
No problems so far with it all, 1 and a bit grows down with it, and i'm loving it stoned.gif .

hi

I'm no expert on the various composts out there

but I would use minimal liquid feeding if I was you

if they need extra feeding I would pot them up into new compost

I doubt the kerala will need much food

I think you will be surprised by how vigorous heirloom plants are

the yield should also be better than you might expect

esp. for the Kerala: you can restrict size and stretch by keeping pot size small --- I would pot them up from a small pot to a larger pot only during the second week of flowering --- as far as I know that is the best way to contol stretch

the Lebanese should be pretty compact, and the Mazar ought to be pretty easy to handle too... I would guess the Mazar will give you the best yield out of these three, depending on how you grow each of the strains... obviously if you've got the space and a big enough pot you could could get massive yield off the Kerala too, as with any "sativa"

Thanks Namkha,

Compost choice ended up being the best available deal at local diy stores, but I'm very happy with it.

All they've had so far is B&Q cutting and seedling compost, and Westlands MP with added John Innes
Tap water, Canna akTRIvator as a root stim and PM essence as LSF preventative.

The Kerala decided to mutate somewhat, but it was potted onto a 3 litre pot and bunged into the flower room at 14 days old, so we'll see what happens.

The lebs are very compact and speedy thumbsup.gif

The mazars look very similar in leaf structure, but one is a lot more stretchy.

Lebs and mazars have gone from 2 inch pots ---> 4 inch pots ---> 2 litre pots, so far.

Here they are: Lebs on the left, mazars on the right, 18 days old.

Cheers Weedio - not sure what difference the added john innes makes, but I love it so far. 13 quid for 180 litres too.
