Full Version: High Tec Grow... Which Strain?

High guys, as you can see im a newbie on this site... using the info on uk420 ive managed to design a great grow room measuring 3m w x 4m l x 2m h. Its going to be based on a 24 pot IWS flood and drain system with either 2 x 1000w cooltube lamps or 3 x 600w cooltube lamps. ill be running a sealed environment using co2, a 10" RVK with carbon filter to scrub the air of smell which obviously will be recirculating and there will be 2-3 5" RVK's pumping air to the lamps and exhaust outside, the air in these light coolers will not come into contact with the grow room air so no need to scrub them. Ill be using a reverse osmosis pump for water and also will have a series of 4 fans and an air conditioner w/ dehumidifier to monitor temp and humidity. The water will be heated and airated, and im planning a whole host of nutes and additives by Dr Hornby (big bud, bud blood etc...) or canna but havn't decided yet. Finally the walls and any ducting used will be fully insulated to minimise heat transfer, and walls will have fully reflective diamond sheet.

My question is ive seen so many strain types i have no clue which to grow. could some people either advise of some candidates or discuss my own thought of possibilties... (take into account ill be growing straight from fem seeds). Ones that I have thought of are white rhino/white widow/big bud/ el nino/blueberry all either by dutch passion or greenhouse. Please take into account that yield is v v important... thanks dudes & dudettes!

Oh also might not make any difference but im going dam in a week so maybe some pointers if theres anyone i can see wink1.gif

There is more to the seed world than Greenhouse and Dutch Passion.

Blueberry can be tricky to grow (and if u use fems DP as a rep of hermy with Blueberry) and wont yield much, Big Bud is not too potent.

Chronic is s good yielder from SS and their White Russioan is v strong, also PAdise have soom really strong and good yielding strains like Sensi Star, Ice cream, Whiteberry.

Have a look around seed sites for diff breeders strains

12 square metres requires at least 6000watts of hid light imo. Assuming you are using all this space for plants you seriously need to increase your planned lighting.

As for strains I would go for euforia feminized.

For yield/quality I would go for chronic but they don't do a feminized version. Worth the time to sex a packet and use the females for mothers in my opinion.

Hi mate,

If you want my advice, stick to a basic nute, root stim, and pk13/14 and then when you hit your desired results then start with the additives. I use (just for the record) Vita-link nute, Vita-link buddy, Bio-plus (first 2 weeks) bio-link (if vegging for longer than 2 weeks) then bio-pak for flowering, Cannazym, Fulvic, Halo, Foliar, And Crop aid in summer, An Rox (at 3rd strength).

I use a multi-flow system with Just pebbles, 600w Grolux bulbs in diamond reflectors (one per meter), air force fans, 4 plants per meter.

That set up has worked wonders for me and now I'm changing it all! lol.gif

But the important point is that I took years to work up to that. I tried all and sundry and finally found a set up that agrees with me. The only reason I'm changing is that I wanna add co2 so I'm gonna seal the room and try an air con.

Kind regards, Maxi ;-)

E2A nearly forgot! as for strain, try White russian by SS as mentioned earlyer. Grows well with good mould resistance. Also easy to hit stupid yields.

Thanks guys...

Semtex... dont worry I know theres more to the world than those seed shops, only reason i stated those ones are cause thats what im used to with friends etc however seeing as both you and Maxigrower both suggested SS's white russian Im a defo look at them...

Im staying in my current location for 13 weeks before moving to another... hence why im going to grow straight from seed however, once I have moved I will start my selective breeding... Ive smoked Chronic before Ilpapa and I kinda liked it... I once got a whole nug which weighed over an oz so know about the yield values... so i could possibly look at this one for later or varieties of it... I would have thought 2000w wud have been enough to grow something for the mo before i move, however if you're advising me otherwise then I may invest in some more lamps however I can imagine heat being a major issue so Ill have to stay with the cooltubes....

cheers again guys wink1.gif

Depends on area. IMO you need a minimum of 500w per meter of plants.

Best of luck.

Once you move, if it is more long term, I would sex some Euforia. Great yielder, quick, nice smoke and appearance

Er, as another poster said, KISS... use Canna A+B and the PK boost [in lower doses than Canna tell you] ... do not under any circumstances attempt to run a "whole host of" anything, it will almost certainly screw up and you will never really know who or why. You can grow the most amazing crops with no additives, but almost all people run into trouble adding potions and lotions trying to get some magic extra % yield when they really want to perfect what they have already.

When you have all the basics well and truly nailed down, then have a play around and test a few things out.

hi im using cooltubes (2x600) because of heat issues, imo though because of the way they are made and the small reflecting area they dont give off a really decent amount of light you would be better off with either gro star or diamond reflectors if you have a way of extracting the heat, does anybody agree with me on this or am i putting cool tubes down without just cause regards kk

not a massive fan myself although they do help a little with temp, imo the light spreads not too great, wouldnt bother with them in winter at all but at the moment my plants might disagree rofl.gif

Cheers guys...

Batfud Im looking at leaving the additives out till I move anyway so as you say Im keeping it simple with this short term grow.

knobbyknome... from what ive read and experienced in a mates grow you loose upto 25% of your lumens using a cooltube... normally this wouldnt be tollerated however in the beautiful world of pig evasion and infrared cameras I need to do my best to keep it cool. I can imagine which cooltubes you are using... the ones with the small reflector about 20-30 cms wide? Ive seen these other cooltube/lamps based on a full size reflector and have a single glass piece going across the whole open side... they look pretty good but still Im unsure... if people have any other suggestions please let me know... but ill leave that thread for the DIY section or summit....

dirtdog... I can understand your point... summer in my current location is like walking in a desert even without a grow so im needing every bit of colling equipment to be working to max potential...

Zaaboot... Ive heard of euphoria... i may have to do a bit more readin on it... any breeder recomendations?
