just wondering,is ph important in worm casts/peatmoss and bio bizz nutrients mix ?
ratdog
I`m using BB nutes in compost, and don`t give ph a second thought, and things are going great.

I haven't Ph'ed in over two years charlie. wink1.gif

my plants are not big and fat as well as i expect and i thought that ph may be problem..
thanks.

Hi Charles

I don't bother about ph either nea.gif

My initial slow starts with grows have probs been down to other things like temps and low humidity in early veg - now it's warmer and they're bigger (consequently kinda generating their own humidity) I can't slow em down and have to keep topping them for height reasons.

Switched from RO water last grow to bog standard water from the shower head and things have never looked better yahoo.gif Another possibility is temp of water you water with - forgotten where it is but OT1 said about water temps in compost being important. They don't like cold feet straight from the cold tap nea.gif

I'd think about other factors such as temps (of water when watering as well as of the general environment) and humidity

things that have helped me charlie;

Buying a reservoir (70 gallons) and heating it to about 68F and putting in a bubbling air stone. All of my plants get tepid, freshly bubbled water.

rock dust and micro herds. thumbsup.gif

cutting back on my nutes. I was overfeeding the poor dears.

Not watering too much.

Very good air extraction.

Switching to a MH lamp for flowering.

More time vegging.

Hope this helps! Good Luck! ;yep:

thanks my friends.

i am pretty sure that what my problem is. i prolly dont have enough microherd to breakdown bio bizz nutrients.

- i added voodoo, tarantula, piranha and worm casting 20% but i think worm casts that i use was not good and fresh .
- my compost : coco, perlite,EWC,peatmoss and 2 tablespoon dolomite lime for 4 litre compost. that is all.
- i have followed bio bizz schedule 100% strenght from seeds and no burns or any burn signs.
- i also do not overwater at all, it is one of few things that i can be sure .
- i have also very good ventilation,360m3 intake and 660 m3 exhaust with speed contoller .my fans run during 24 hours.
- i use 600W dual spectrum hps bulb for all growing period ( vegging + flowering ) and there are 4 X 65W 2700K CFL bulbs on the corners of my grow tent.
- there is not any light peak in my tent.
- Humidty is between 45 % and 65 % .
- Temp is between 24C and 30C . ( yes ,it is slightly high )
- there is not big temp difference between night and daytime, because i am running a dehuey at nights.
- i vegged my plants about 35 days.
- temp of water that i water is almost equal the temp of the ambiance in my grow tent, because i let the water sit next to my tent to equalize their temp .
- the water i use slightly hard ,but i began to mix tap water with distilled water from dehuey.
- of course i let the tapwater sit for 36- 48 hours to evaporate chlorine before i water the my precious plants.

i dont know why my plants has not got bigger buds . as i said, the EWC i used might not be fresh and good quality.it may be the reason.
i will wait untill see first amber trichs before harvest,i hope they will be bigger and fatter untill that time .if my final yield is not good,i will try chemical canna terra nutrients next time.
Randalizer
add an airstone to your sitting water. It will help evaporate off any noxious gasses (like chlorine) and help oxygenate your water. A good thing and easy/cheap to do and maintain. yes.gif

You might want to consider fertilizing your girls with micro herd rich tea. Click here for a read up on Actively Aerated Compost Teas. thumbsup.gif
charlesweedmore
thanks randa. but i am getting closer to end of flowering ( today 43. days of flowering )
can i still add worm tea ?
andypotatoes
It certainly wouldn't do any harm, although I notice it definitaley works better the earlier it is used. Yields are often lower in organic sytems until you get the hang of looking after your microbes, but the flavour of organic dope is better imo, and most of the extra weight from using chemical fertilisers is toxic crap.
charlesweedmore
can i use bloom booster suchj as canna bio boost ?i used bio bizz full range but i will add other brands next time.i may try advanced nutrients big bud and overdrive.
bart
as Randalizer said you need an air stone in your water if your leaving it that long before using

it takes time to get everything right ,i wouldnt expect the best yield on the first couple of grows .

wouldnt you be better off staying with biobizz ,rather than changing nutes for the next grow
and having to work the feeding schedule out again !!

well my advice was more for your next grow. As bart says, it takes a few grows to get the hang of it. My own explorations have shown that you get the most benefit from your grow by treating your girls nicely from day one. Improvements (like worm tea) late in their growth will provide a minimum of improvement.

Another thing and closely related is that of clones and such. If you are doing clones, take as many as you can, then only flower the strongest ones.
charlesweedmore
thanks pals.
i am not interesting with clones, because i want to try different strains in each grows.
ripthedrift

you would be better of looking at you planting medium as a whole picture ... rather than to keep trying different products as you go along , get the planting medium composition right from day one and the plants will take care of them selves .... a good balance of all the right things will pay you back with great tasting good bud in the long term ................and thats what its all about smoke.gif

i cannot find anything here. it is very big problem for me.
i will try to find/make better compost next time and i'll give a chance more to bio bizz nutrients smile.gif
Owderb
Try using just biobizz grow and bloom and simplify things

Theres no need to use anything else except probably a bit of rootstim

And try mixing your nutrient and using it straight away

And please dont get hung up on chlorine, house plants have been doing fine for years with just tap water and chlorine aint a big problem

Also your water could be too warm

18-20 degrees is ideal

Get a few grows under your belt using the basics, then you can start experimenting if you so wish

Owd
charlesweedmore
thanks mate. i let the tapwater sit for 48 or 72 hours to evoporate chlorine ( i dont bubble the waTER ) .

i dont bubble the waTER

Then the level of dissolved oxygen is likely to be quite low and that's a bad thing
charlesweedmore
i will buy a powerful aquarium pump to make EWC tea and i will also use it to bubble the water next time.
and i also use algamic and i have pretty hard water. is it a trouble ? i want to use algamic because it has all trace elements
cantharis
I mix my own compost, all I can buy prepacked here is substrato which is peat moss and/or ´forest product´. OK for supporting roots and holding water, but little nutrition. I add horseshit, garden compost and wormcasts, sand and grit for drainage, some crushed eggshell (organic lime!!).

Never bother with pH, my last grow I averaged 18 ounces dried a plant, best girl gave me 26 ounces.
drfish
You could try adding some mollasses to your feed to boost the micro heard. That tends to do quite well from about mid flower onwards.

No worries, welcome aboard....sorry if that sounded terse.......you can learn a lot by using the search function to find oldtimer1's posts. Lots of good stuff is pinned but there are plenty of nuggests of good info buried in other threads.

Ive already got searching & have noticed UK420 is much like a treasure chest filled with info on organics.
May I ask what strain(s) your growing?
Im currently in the process of growing UBC99, Cinderella 99 & Black Rose.

I'm not a strain whore - ain't got the bucks. I'm on my third pack of seeds in 2.5 years......... rofl.gif ........I like to clone and get my moneys worth.

Currently growing Seedsman Nemesis, prior to that about 12 months on FDM's 'The PURE', and before then about 12 months on Growi Seeds NLxShiva, next purchase will be something from ACE I think....or maybe RSC.....or maybe UGORG Smile if they in stock when I've next got some spare cash.

Where did you get C99 - I think there's a few on here that would bite your hand off for that.....

Bluepixie Im currently searching for the "Blues" strain if your from the U.K. you may have heard of it.

If you PM me your email add Ill reply with the web address.
