On the eve of the new river fishing season I would like wish all the river anglers who post on here good luck for the season ahead.
I am going to be kicking off my new barbel fishing season at midnight tonight. I have been like a kid on Xmas eve all day and I am getting very exited now, I am meeting a couple of mates at 9pm, have a bit of a social, check out the river then eagerly await the off at midnight.
I went for a walk along the river yesterday and it was shockingly low and clear, it looked to be around 3 feet below normal and some of the gravel shallows are now dry, I have never seen the Kennet this low before. I think its gonna be hard going myself although we are supposed to be getting some big thunderstorms down here this evening with some flash flooding in places so it will be interesting to see what happens.
I am gonna stay mobile and spend the early hours of the morning searching the river, 2 ellips pellets on the hair and 12 pellets loose fed into the swim, wait 20 minutes and then move on, I can cover a big section of the river like this and hopefully I can find a borris or two, it would be really nice to catch on the first session of the year.
Tight lines to anybody who is out on the river tomorrow, I would be interested to hear what you other river anglers are going to be getting upto over the next week
