Lo ppl!
I want to get some extra lighting in my growroom, but as it is very small the temperature changes quite easily!
So i was thinking of getting some glass sheilds / transparent material, to put into the reflector, allowing me to make a DIY cooling lamp!
I want to know wot is the best glass/plastic etc to do this with? I was considering a glass shield from growlighting but for 2 im looking at 30 quid :/ just for some glass!
I dont want to filter out any of the inportant spectum, so any info on these sort of things would be great!
Thanks alot
Greg

i guess tempered heat resistant glass would do ya wont be alot cuase ull only need a small piece guessing about £20 or maybe a bit more
i went for the chaper option and bougt a heat shield from growell redirect my heat off the plants below and into my exstraction leading out my rom dumps loads of heat
but if i had the money id have went your way with tempered glass fited holes drilled and exstraction sucked out from relfector ull have hardly any heat from yer lamp

There was something in weed world a little while back (issue42)
I think its ok to put a quote up from it but if it isnt someone will remove it soon enough!

Thats from weed world issue 42 to clarify.
This guy was building a verticle air cooled shade, it had the bulbs hanging down inside it.
I wreckon you could adapt it for horizontal use. Might not be the cheapest you can do though...
You can get pyrex 'bake a round''s (heat resistant glass tube) from the us ebay quite cheap most of the time and fashion an air cooled reflector with the tube and an open ended reflector.
That's what I did, in fact one of my earliest posts on here ( I think ?) was asking if anyone knew of a uk source.
They didn't then, does anyone now ?
just took a trip down memory lane
here the thread not that its much use.

rate ppl!
Right ive been looking on ebay and found the pyrex bread tubes! They look gud and ive had a look at the forum of making my own DIY cool lamp!
Ive got 2 questions!
1) Would 2 70w hps lamps fit inside it? width wise
2) Have you got any idea wot the P&P might to the UK, just incase they try to screw me :/
Cheers

I'd avoid putting perspex anywhere near a HID lamp, as it becomes soft when it gets hot. Toughened glass is a much better option, and its cheap too.
