Hey everyone. Thinking ahead for next year, I would really like to try some of these ancient strains outdoors in the UK. If I gave them a longish veg period maybe starting them under lights early april, would it be possible to finish any of these strains outdoors before the mould takes hold?
Thanks

hi
I can't answer that from experience as I have never tried
but the Lebanese would be the fastest flowerer --- at a guess it should be done by the end of Sept / beg Oct
the flowering times I give in the strain descriptions are for when they will be harvested according to the traditional methods, styles and tastes of the region
in traditional hashish and charas cultures the general consensus I have encountered is that the best smoke is made from plants that are as ripe as possible - so for example when I put mid Nov finish for the Nepali and Kumaoni those will be plants which are close to 100% ripe... same with the Mazar-i-Sharif which a lot of farmers would like to leave till it is very ripe for sieving to give you that nice red or brown ultra dense and sticky gardaa... the Spanish grower who tried the Mazar-i-Sharif said he cut it about mid October as he was harvesting for Western style 2/3rds ripe
I think the Kumaoni and the Malana could easily be acclimatised to the UK - I am not one of those people who thinks you can't create drug strains for the UK... I think they would be worth a go
but your best bet would be the Lebanese, probably followed by the Mazar-i-Sharif... they are the two most Northern strains, followed by the Malana and the Kullu Jungli, then the Pahari Farmhouse and the Kumaoni Jungli
I think any of them are worth a shot for potential northern outdoor genetics
the Lebanese will be the fastest flowerers out of the lot - I have read in old and modern sources that they are harvested as early as August in the Lebanon sometimes... I would guess they could be ready as early as the end of September in the UK
the Kullu Jungli and Mazar-i-Sharif in particular I would guess could have some useful early flowering phenotypes too
