History...

I have move back with my folks, to help them finish off renovating their farm house and to do the
manual jobs around the place, manage the land, chop wood etc, as dads no longer up to it.
So a move away from UK and a change from being self employed to working for parents.
This i don't mind, as for me its all about quality of life, not the size of my bank balance.

But...... errr HORROR!!!! no handy dealer, so in the spirit of country living and self sufficiency I've decided to grow my own,
This diary is for me to record my successes and failures and hopefully eventual stoneyness!!!
(any pointers & tips I get alone the way will be much appreciated)

Mission *Build a grow space with out folks knowing*

Ok ok .. look the old gals cool, but the old man, well.. "don't poke sleeping dogs" eh nono.gif

Done a little research, then had to look about to see what i could knock together & still have in my room, all stealthy like.

So, grabing a window of opportunity (folks back in UK for a week) i made this.
Pickels
so the technical stuff..... lots of electrical goodies and a handfull of White Widow seeds
Pickels
Pleased with the design, though i have had to modify it since, but i can hold it at a steady 22 degrees (+/- 2) for germinating.
Pickels
so alls well for a couple of weeks.

My baby girls....
Pickels
The cleaver ones of you would have noticed four seedlings at the beginning, I'm sorry to say i cooked one. (note temp)
Its 35.9 but it had gone into the 40's
Pickels
So i had to install a bigger extractor fan (external). I also re worked the lighting, now running 600W of light at around 28 degrees
Pickels
Which my little ladies are really enjoying....(about week 3/4)

Hey mate looks like you're going great guns so far! What are your plots like? Got any photos?

~Satta
ordinaryguy
good luck with it matey, you may want to consider a scrog training net with your height limitations in there, to make the most of it... white widow isnt a short plant, or atleast mine isnt.... got all my plants trained to a very low level and using all available floor space to some success....

good luck with it all anyway fella, happy growing spliff.gif
Pickels
Yeah i know I'm well limited on the height!
Plan is to grow them to a reasonable size then get them planted outside, its pushing 30 / 35 degrees out there, through to September/October,
I've a great isolated spot which i have all ready prepared. (some pics to post,Satta )

I'm thinking of either planting 2 and may be keeping one in grow space, so will defo look at a scrog net or
Planting 2 and keeping the 3rd in grow stage and taking clons from that and growing them on or
planting all 3 outside and taking cuttings to make the clones

I was hoping to keep my supply going with clones but not sure at moment if that is a realistic option, also i dont know
how many clons i can take from a plant and still get a good yeild.

Just a thought as you said WW grow tall, do you know a low bushy strain ?

week 5.
Pickels
ok ive have noticed some yellowing of the lower leaves when i watered this morning.
It was lot worst in the evening.

I have now started to add feed to the water.
Pickels
Week 5, 24 hours after first feed
Looks like the 2 bottom leaves on two smallest plants going to die off.
Pickels
Hmmm i'm wondering if these are about the right height & bushyness for their age (5weeks).
shafty420
looking v healthy mate what nutes you using
Pickels
Thanks for your post,

They have just had their 1st dose of babybio, I am wondering if i should have given them a small amount of feed earlyer instead of waiting for signs on the plants to show that they need nutes. (note to self *next grow nutes after 3 week*)

Just a few photos of where im going to plant my ladies

The grounds been dugover and compast added b4 being recovered with leaves

Photos showing gap in canapy of trees i made, my spot now gets all day sun and the evening.

This is going to be the space for my indoor grow, which i hope to get fitted out over the next few months.
Its going to take a lot to get this area cleaned up and stealthy.

Do they get full sun or dappled sunlight ? It looks like branches are in the way that will grow more leaves and block out all important sunlight

Thanks for posting Mr F, I've time enough to spend on indoors & if i have it set to veging my clones for next season i'll be happy.
My plans always been to bloom them outside with the summers we get here its almost ideal, except for the thunder storms that
we seem to have every 5 days or so. (still they get plenty of water, then sun this way)
Bad Penny.
Watching this with interest,be good to see how WW does somewhere with decent weather,if yours turns out OK I might try her somewhere nice and hot myself guitar.gif
wakenbaker
Nice looking plot, bet the soils good there, I wouldnt mind giving the famous Widdow a run too. thumbsup.gif
Pickels
Hi Wakenbaker/Bad Penny thanks for your thoughts..

I noticed on my most healthy plant brown tips to leaves and a slight yellowing of the edges. I'm thinking i might have been
a bit generous with the fed, so back to H2O for a couple of days or so and half dose when i need decide to give some feed.
I think the problem b4 might have been excuess water though hard to imagine, as i'm letting top inch to 2 inch dry out b4 watering.

Well live and learn so they say ..

This pic shows brown tips (if u look really close)

Get them plants outside man.. Not critisising because they do look good but they will shoot up soooo quick if you put them out now.. huh.gif
Pickels
OK question time...

I think i should be getting them outside, but i would like to see them double in height,
so what would be the latest date for me to plant them, its sunny and still hot (high 20's)
in October. Also I'm concerned about the amount of rain we are having, should easy off in 3-4 weeks,
but how will it effect the plants (3-4 days sun then 2 days rain on average).
And last, I need to take clones, do i need to keep one back for a mother plant (I'll keep it in veg stage under lights)
or can i clone off the clones next year & year on year, so plant and bloom these 3 plants.

Thoughts please master growers .. notworthy.gif
NYC DIESEL THC
Had sume cheese plants under cfls not as good of a set up as yours but they were under the cfls for quite sum time without changing the pots as we had alot to deal with... The result in this is that it has taken some time for the plants to settle in and has stunted them a little... so i was thinking if you try put the plants out just before flowering you may stunt the plant and slow the flowering prosess down by a couple of weeeks sad.gif You do not want this as it will result in shit mouldy unfinished herb wink.gif

Get them out now they will have time to settle in and produce you a nice crop stoned.gif

Hope i helped NYC...

Also about the mother you should build a lil veg cabinit jus like the one you got at the moment to start of clones nd to keep your mother. a cabinit of that size is ideal maybe a bit more headroom if your gonna keep the mudda in there to

Unless you gonna use that garage.. Ild be having a feild day building little rooms evrywhere

And instead of all them energy savers.. it would bbe better to get a blue spectrum 125 w or 250 w to start them of.. you will notice the differance trust me!!

I was wondering have them lights been onn 24/24 because i have to say it looks rather bushy in there wid no height??

Duuuude get them out now, don't worry about the weather ffs its a weed and it'll look after its self. We have around 8 weeks of veg time until most strains turn in to flower mode (most turn around 2nd week of August).

Thats perfect. Means we dont have to go water our plants just let mother nature do her thing. The crucial time we need sun is during flowering and particuarly at the end of flowering. During Vegitative growth rain every few days is good imo.

Regarding clonning, im not too sure of this but I think if you take a clone of a clone of a clone ect over time it looses some of its vigour. Its better to keep a mum you particuarly like in veg and clone her year after year. But it depends if you want to have the risk (and the eletric bill) of having a plant in your house all the time? Another way is to start a pack of femmed beans early in the year (say Feb) and then from each plant take a load of clones and put them in your veg room and plant your "mothers" out.

Hi NYC, I like the idea of a veg cab for the mother and starting off clones, you cant see because the lamps are not in place
but on my light board I have also installed two 160W white sodiums lamps, I think I will take them out build another cab with them in,
nice idea thanks. I have been running my lights at 18/6, but have read that it would be ok to run 24/24 might try that next grow.

Hi Marcos, going to plant them up this weekend :O)

Hi WB, as i only have the 3 plants i will plant all 3 out but take clones from each. The plant/clone i like the most I'll turn in to a mother plant, i don't think 2nd generation will lose that much, but i do see ya point about not cloning year on year. My idea was to have a mother and clone off her each year, I'm pretty much isolated here & don't have to pay for leccy.

So my plan is to get them out Friday, I'll take some photos of course and over the next few weeks, post at least weekly with photos & do a temp and weather report.
