Has anyone got experiance here as Ive not heard people talking about Low pressure sodium lamps for growing.

Ive been searching about for the most efficent way of lighting a flowering room

Ive looked into light rails and led's to keep the power down.

I found a chart of "Typical Lumen Outputs and Energy Costs for Outdoor Lighting"

Low-Pressure Sodium (LPS)
Lamp Wattage Lumen Output Power Cost Cost per 100 Lumens
135 22500 $54.00 $0.24

High-Pressure Sodium (Clear) (HPS)
Lamp Wattage Lumen Output Power Cost Cost per 100 Lumens
400 36500 $160.00 $0.44

On wikipedia it says about LPS

"These lamps produce a virtually monochromatic light averaging at a 589.3 nm wavelength"
"Another unique property of LPS lamps is that, unlike other lamp types, they do not decline in lumen output with age"

So if im right thats about half the cost to run, a much better light frequency for flowering and they dont degrade over time.

I found for sale:
£54.50 for ballast
£36.40 for bulb (2000 Kelvin)

so £90 for 22500 Lumen is expencive to setup but may be worth it in the longrun.

or you could just steal one of those big orange street lights! its the same thing
compostverte
Useless for growing. Pure yellow.

I saw one solitary reference which speculated it might be a useful addition for "extra red" - (maybe 150 watts of LPS for every few KW of MH ?)

If it worked, someone else would be using it - the technology has been around since 1932.
