Went bass fishing for a couple of days armed with some luggies, some fresh and frozen sandeel and frozen macks (mackies are really late this year here very scarce still even for boats) and our trusty fishin tent and obviously a big bag of greengo and some polm for the wee hours to save us sleeping. No beer this time as we wanted to give it a proper go for the spikey fellas.

Anyways, trying a new spot we set up camp, cast out and got the kettle on. Before the kettle boiled my mate was into a doggie (the first of many) so it was good to get the blank off. We both brought in a few each until darkness when we expected to get loads of them - the bites stopped for 15mins or so then my mates rod started flying off the tripod heading for the sea!! He was using lugworm so i was instantly thinking a massive bass had taken his worms. Dont lose it dont lose it! The line was pissing out of his multiplier but he got the fish into the side after a 10 min battle (was only cast out 40 yards!) a large fish around 12-15lb appeared out of the darkness - a fucking shark!! wow man its a belter went to grab the line to steer it towards me then the cunt bit through his hook snood and swam off. BASTARD!! It looked like a smoothhound and a fucking huge one at that - a new scottish record infact but it could of been a tope.. (it was dark) Still weird to catch one on worms though. And smoothies are more or less unheard of here in Scotland. The mark will remain secret till we give it a proper bash

Wire traces on with large fish baits was in order. The doggies returned and we thought that was the last of the tope/hounds then my rod took a lunge towards the sea. After a 5 min battle the fish was near the rocks but the cunt snagged my at the base of them and broke me without getting a look at it. Certainly wasnt as big as my mates but a large fish still.. What a nights fishing. We mustof landed 30 doggies beofre we got the head down for a kip. We were gonna go home but thought fuck it one last go the next night. Long story short - no bass or hounds but loads of doggies and a missed cracking run and a slack liner (bass?) and a bucket full of peeler crab collected at low water what are now popping away in my garage.

Good to get the fishin bug again ive been out at least 2 times a week for the last month or 2 now. My 1000's of quids worth of fishin stuff now doesnt seem so useless!

Go collect your peelers now people they are out in force. Sell for a quid each and more in dec/jan/feb/march. Nice wee xmas bonus

well, i'm glad to hear someone had a good productive weekend! i was taken tope and bass fishing on a charter boat off wells-next-the-sea in norfolk for my 30th. it was a great weekend but, we only caught a few small dabs, and a couple of people on the boat had runs from tope that amounted to nothing...
we stopped to get fresh bait en-route but, there was no sign of any mackeral. so at the second mark we fished for dabs and used them as livebait for tope but, caught nothing.

and we also did a bit of bass fishing from the shore in old hunstanton. but again caught nothin. i'm not realy a sea fisherman and went with limited knowledge. so now i'm going to learn as much as i can and hopefuly next time i will catch my 1st tope/bass???
