hey all, I was diagnosed with RP when i was 17 and was just wondering if any other uk420 users had it or were doctors that knew anything on the subject.... mainly to do with... you guessed it!.... cannabis use.

I've been living with it for nearly 8 years now so have quite a bit experience with cannabis' effects on me and my condition.

feel free to pm me if need be.

cheers! cool.gif spliff.gif

Retinitis Pigmentosa

that's the badger! yeh i have read a lot into the vitimin treatment although wasn't too up for it myself as the dosages described put extra impact on the liver and i think i manage to do that well enough myself! wink.gif

smoking definately has an effect on my eyesight when i smoke it. RP effects the parts of the eye that control light so one of the symtoms is nightblindness ( i can't see shit in dim light so put the fooking bong on the table not the floor!) and although myself personally don't notice my sight any better in the dark than before smoking it definately makes them more senisitive to light (i'm photophobic too which means i always need my sunglasses even if it's overcast, like when u wake up real hungover and some bastard opens the curtains!)
however i have heard of others gaining more night vision after smoking...

for the mental aspects that come along with such a condition cannabis has definately helped and hindered in some way or another... it's made me able to laugh at myself and look at things lightly but i have to say sometimes if i have been smoking too much i can put myself off tasks "cause it will be too hard for me" even though usually when i give things a bash i have a laugh (but still with bruised knees!)

I did manage to get a chance to talk to one of the worlds leading RP researchers who did say that alcohol at moderate levels can be ok for someone with RP but tobacco is a no no. Free radicals and all that! I was sadly not really in a position to bring up cannabis although thinking back i really should have done!

i think this could be the gene therapy that was the big talk at last years AGM in finland...

Amazing stuff

they built a maze and asked this lad to guild himself through it (dim light like a nightclub say, oh and 2 guides behind just so he didn't hurt himself) and it took him 67 seconds to get through before treatment (this included 2 turn arounds in the right direction from the guilds when he hit a wall)

after the treatment he walked through in 14 seconds with no help!!

(had a link to the youtube video here but then rememebered offsite link rule... if someone can tell me how to embedd a youtube video i'll stick it up)
