Hello everyone,
My question is mainly for Oldtimer1 since he seems to have the most knowledge when it comes to organic nutrients.
My local shop just started carrying Biobizz products. I live in the US. Ipicked up their pamphlet and took a look at it. On the cover it says OMRI listed but on the inside only Bio Grow, Fish Mix and Alg A Mic are OMRI listed. Bio Bloom, Root Juice, Top max and Pre mix are not. I know that the OMRI standards are different than UK oranganic standards, so if these products really are organic then why are they not OMRI listed??
I would really like to stay organic and I'm going to need to pick up some more bloom nutrients soon. My only other alternative at this point to get earth juice but I only know that one of OT1's friends uses it with good results
Biobizz also says not to rely on EC/TDS meters when using their product. Why is this and is it the same for Earth Juice?
Do the N-P-K ratios really matter as long as its suffiencient? Can you get the same or similar results using different products?
thanks for your help

Biobizz is not currently approved by any uk authority, I know they have applied to the soil association. This takes some time. Some will not get authentication. For instance allmix could not because it contains peat, because peat use is banned as an endangered natural resource under uk organic rules.
All Biobizz products are certified by the Dutch organic authority. As far as OMRI I can’t say. I suggest you email Biobizz and ask them just the question you asked me info@Biobizz.com I’m sure we would like to hear what they have to say. It may be they are still waiting for certification on the rest of their products.

I know lots of people who do or have done well with earth juice including my self. Understand that bloom is not a full fertiliser it needs to be mixed with grow and preferably catalyst as well

These are fertilisers made from plant animal and ground minerals ie they are mainly suspended solids, they are not extracted chemical salts although there will be some. EC/TDS meters measure dissolved salts in liquid so no you cant really use meters.

Yes the ratios need to be balanced. All that is needed are adequate reserves of all elements, this is easy in soil where there is an unrestricted root run, in pots it is more difficult as the root run is limited by the container size.
You have asked a lot of questions here I hope my answers cover them a bit. It would take a book to cover them in a in depth.

I finally emailed BioBizz here is what they said (info@biobizz.com)
I have a foliar product which contains B vitamins, Giberellic acid, carbohydrtes, trace elements, kelp and fish extracts. That is now gone and would like you to recomend another foliar spray.
1.I don not know the product help, we do have a foliar annex normal
plant food product called Alg-A-mic. A vitality booster made with cold
pressed concentrated seaweed; hence it's extremely high content of trace
elements and hormones of vegetable origin. Natural amino acids and vitamins are
also added, catering to the whole spectrum of the plants needs. Alg-A-Mic
can be taken in by the leaves as well as with water directly through roots
promoting vigorous green growth. Healthy plants are also less likely to
suffer from deficiency, diseases, and temperature fluctuations. Alg-A-
Mic can be used in all stages of grow and bloom.
(on demand I can send you analyzes)
What PH should I have my water at before adding Biobizz??
2.Ph: adjust the ph to 7 befopre adding biobizz products and always try
to use the best quality water available for mixing nutrients solutions.
Do BioGrow and BioBloom contain any trace elements or vitamins?
3.Bio grow: A liquid organic fertilizer that can be used in all types
of soil mixtures during the vegetative stage. It smells very sweet owing
to it's content of natural sugars which also provide an ideal
interrelationship with bacteria in the soil mixture. Enriched with 70 trace elements and vitamins B1, B2, C and E, Bio-Grow is a complete fertilizer. Bio-Grow
can also be used in the very later stages of flowering as a plant tonic.
Like all Biobizz fertilizers it won't clog your dosing system or irrigation
tubing.
Bio bloom: A complete liquid organic fertilizer. Like all Biobizz
fertilizers it won't clog your dosing system or irrigation tubing.
Bio-bloom contains a small amount of nitrogen and supplies phpsphorous
and potassium to ensure exuberant flowering. Trace elements and hormones of
vegetable origin are also added to improve the plant process itself.
Bio-bloom also contains enzymes and amino acids which work in harmony
with the root environment to promote flower and fruit production.
Why are some of your products OMRI listed and others are not?
4.Dear M. : Biobizz products are organic certified in United Stats and
Europe. We are currently applying for the USDA in the states. Coming
back to your question: bio grow, alg-a-mic, fish-mix are already omri listed.
Bio bloom, Topmax and rootjuice are pending for the next meeting of the
admission group of OMRI.
I hope I answerred your questions if not feel free to contact me at
anytime..
Kind regards,
Biobart

So does this hint at Maxicrop and Alg a mic being very similar products?

Now thats a bitch I thought you didnt have to worry about ph with it and havent bothered with it and had no bad results but its early days and at this time of yr it'll be 7.1 to 7.2 out the tap and it stands for a bit too in a big bin.So what do you think ot1 what can I do to better it in the short term as there aint much point in having RO fitted ,as we'll be moving the show after this one.I'll not sleep now but they look so well and going for it too.Gmyst

Gmyst you don't need to ph adjust unless the water is extremely hard, the results of our members from all over, posting here should have already have answered that for you. As I have said several times before, you can use citric acid if you want to play with ph but its not necessary.
Maxicrop is extracted with high temperature a sort of cooked hydrolysed system, Alg is from a cold extraction process. So no the end product is not the same or even similar..

thanks for the tip.
I am about to get some Rare Earth to top dress on my blooming girls and mix in with my peat moss and perlite for the little ones. it seems like Alg a mic is a better choice for Kelp extracts, I have heard that heat extractions break down some of the sought after ingredients.
OT1 do you have a link concerning your difficulties with Alg a Mic? Would you recomend Maxi crop instead?
can i use rock phospahte to adust the ph of my potting mix? If so how much? The local store was out of lime, they said i could use rock phosphate instead.....

cheers
