hi

here are some pics of a very pretty ganja cultivar from East India

from some seeds I got from some unusually classy ganja and gave to Gert Lush to see what he could do with them

I wasn't able to furnish him with much info, beyond what the Babas I got the grass from told me, which was that it was from Bengal/Assam i.e. the ganja producing heartlands of Northeast India --- east from the Himalaya, towards Indochina, and the home to the mother goddess cults of Durga and Kali

hence Kali Weed

East India is the region from which ganja spread around the world: as late as the 1930s British India was still exporting truly vast amounts of ganja around the world to supply Indian "indentured laborours" in Burma, Trinidad and elsewhere...

there were some very classy buds in this batch of herb --- silvery blue coloured and potent, with a very classy aroma, not just generic ganja, smoother and richer, deeper scents

I hope I am right in seeing a hint of blue in the leaves, though it is hard to know from photos

As it turned out, this is a really unusual plant: Short, only 60cm tall after two months under glass and very, VERY branchy. I don't think I've seen anything so branchy before, not even the branchiest c99 comes close.
The leaves are very thin, but instead of being willowy and swept, like they are with most SE Asia types and hazes, they are very pert, they practically jump up at you like a Jack-in-the-box.

My idea was that something from such a wet area would be really mold-resistant, and maybe with a cross to an early sativa like Durban, Moroc or Leb it might be suitable for outdoors in the UK.

Well, I'm intrigued now, and I will be doing a seed run of this soon. If the plant in the pic turns out female, I'll leave it o/d just to see when flowering starts, how long it goes on for, etc. In the meantime a cut or two may find its way into the drobe.

More pics at a gallery on a different board, I hope it's OK to give a link here.

Anyone else know anything about cannabis from Assam, Nagaland or any of the "Seven Sisters"?

Fascinating.

That is a beautiful plant. The one on the right is my favourite, from an aesthetic point of view wub.gif

hey there - I think it is the same plant

Gert tells me the leaves are actually very lime green

there are more seeds left, so hopefully we will see some more later

Ah, gotcha. Just a different an earlier stage of growth. Still wub.gif

I must say, Namkha, I've not bought seeds in years - I'm lucky in that I have generous friends who have given me genetics I find interesting to play with over the years...but, my man, you have me hook line and sinker! I just have to dust off my purse, chase the moths away, and purchase some of your fascinating offerings.

Thanks for giving those of us bored shitless with the usual Dutch blah another option. specool.gif

Hi guys,

Yes, it's a very intriguing plant indeed, certainly the most exotic I've seen so far, even daintier looking than my 303!
I'll be keeping you posted sporadically as it goes along. I also want to find out how it behaves under glass in the UK.

From Aug/Sept I'll be doing a run with all the seeds I got, should give a good idea of the smoke. For now, I am just enjoying it as a 'house plant'.

hi namhka i really is nice to see these sort of strains produced by people that are not after profit but after a nice smoke they can enjoy. unlike most seedbanks. really keep up this good work because if not these will disapear forever. if i had the patience to grow something like this then i would deff be looking into them. cheers for cheering me up tonight.

some more pics of this beautiful plant Gert has going - now in a 20L pot and still only about 80cm tall!

a beautiful blue hue to the leaves, which I'm hoping will also develop into something interesting in the flowers

the Baba I got the best buds from was a real character - had the longest dreads of any sadhu I've seen, and genuinely didn't seem to have a care in the world

Well, it's been shoehorned into the drobe (poor thing), let's see how it goes...
I predict a long flowering period, but not too much stretch. Especially judging by the behaviour of the clone, which, even after a month in 11/13 had not shown sex (nor stretched, really).

I remember this kind of behaviour [PS. The long period to show, i.e., not the stretch] when I first did 303 (Papuan-based Ozzie strain). I remember people not believing me when I said just how long it takes for these peculiar sativas to show sex for the first time. It gets better when the clone is 1yr+ old. My 303 now flowers in 15-20 days. I kinda expect similar from this.
