Full Version: Auto Kush vs Diesel Ryder vs...? (for lowest scent)

Hello everyone,

I was just wondering out of the numerous dwarf and low ryder plants, which would be the best for minimal scent during flowering (relative to the rest). I will also be using an ONO Block to minimise on smell and growing inside a PC grow box.
There would only be one plant growing at a time and the pc grow box is decent kits with 2 25cm fans on the side and an intake exhaust on the front. The Ono block would be placed inside near the fans which extract the air.
An extra measure which could be taken is to look into attaching a kind of carbon filter over the fans (i'm not technically minded, but maybe this will work?).

The grow will be in an open design flat with 1 bedroom/living room, so it can't stink since all guests will be in the same room as it.

Thanks,
Bhang

I grew ak47 x hindu kush that didnt smell much but it wasnt that great to smoke either.
Probably down to my growing skills in soil, always had problems with organic. Ive got 4 seedling just a few days old growing in coco, i'm hoping these will be a lot better.

Thanks for the info Solar. I too was looking to go down the organic route myself. Fortunately, I will only be vaping my harvest either in the volcano or iolite and at present, 0.1g is enough for a session that keeps me buzzing for 3-5 hours.

I had actually heard that the diesel ryder had pretty high THC levels (17-18%+) however, with my low tolerance/vaping and the need for least scent on this 1st grow, maybe the auto kush or a cross of auto kush and something is the way to go. I heard that Kush strains in general are relatively low scent. Only problem is I can't find any feminised diesel ryder of auto kush seeds so I guess I will need to grow like 3 plants initially and hope I get a girl?

Oh yeah, does anyone have any comments on fitting carbon filters over the 2 large 25cm pc fans built into the side of the tower? Would this be possible? I'm a complete noob! However, I'm hoping to learn even if it is from growing 1 ruderalis hybrid at a time in soil in a pc grow case!

Newbie myself too mate but from my experience growing autos I'dday you probably don't stand much of a chance growing in the same room as guests visit without someone noticing unless you rig up a mini carbon filter.

Hi Net,

You don't think having this inside the box would help:

Ona Block:

..."punch several small holes in the cap and place in desired location. The ONA Block measures 3" x 3" and will fit in most places.

Everyone who uses it knows...ona works great to make those bad smells disappear. Pets, plants, garbage, smoke, germs, mildew - all submit to the power of ona.

ona is a series of complex formulas, using essential oil technology, that are designed to simplify your odor control management. They attack, neutralize and destroy a wide spectrum of organic and non-organic odors."

..."Ona Block is a semi-solid odor neutralizing agent that slowly releases to eliminate any airborne smells. Made from a complex formula, it uses essential oil technology to destroy a wide spectrum of organic and non-organic odors. Not a masking agent; it neutralizes odor."

From what I've read in other forums, people say that in many cases 1 of these is sufficient for small operations like 2-3 plants so I don't see why it wouldn't work for a mini plant...however, I have contacted the merchant who sells the pc grow case about seeing if I can fit some kind of carbon filter to the out-take fans/vents too.

Thanks mate. The only new snag I've come across is the lack of feminized seeds for auto hindu kush or for diesel ryder.

Therefore, i am also now looking at either feminised easy ryder, one of the feminized ak47/ryder hybrids or...anything else someone can advise which is not too bad for scent yet is available in feminised seeds.

Hopefully once this first grow is done, I can look into modding my pc case grow room for better odour control.

First case I will go for the auto kush and hope for the best for female plant. I'm guessing I can fit 3-4 small pots in the case which has the following dimensions:
56.5 cm x 54.5 cm x 24 cm

and hopefully ONE of those 3 plants will turn out to be a sexy chick. Then i just need to worry about composting the male plants without anyone being the wiser...lol.gif

By the way, I've heard great things about diesel ryder's taste smile.gif

Not a hi-jacker!!can the hindu kush [autos] be grown out doors??my out door season here is short, need to be in the ground in a couple of weeks!

Hey man,

I'd probably agree with people here, out of those plants, the hindu kush would smell the least, and the smoke's not bad. One thing though, those autos, especially from people like lowlife, like to shoot out a deep main root, which may be a problem in micro grows, however i've never tried it so it may work just fine. Plus a fem auto is kinda a waste of money as once its gone its gone, you'll have to buy new seeds each time *shrugs* if your only looking for small amounts though this probably isnt a problem lol.gif! You could always get a fem of another plant and just lst the sh*t out it lol.gif. By the looks of a few websites you'd probably be fine with that ONA block, but if not you could always just ad a filter on the outside of the extractor fan.

And to 666elsie: Auto's do fine outdoors, in fact i think they were originally designed with outdoor growers, that had short light periods, in mind. I'm sure i saw some canadian seed company do autos at some point, which were pretty hardy plants.

As other posters stated diesel ryder is a VERY VERY VERY smelly strain to grow & toke....

Not grown auto kush so cant comment.

Weeds
Ruderalisman
Im growing auto ak47 x kush , I have two distinct phenos and one is smellier than the other, one is relitively short with wide leaves and a low fruity odour (kushy) and the other is much taller, bushy and I believe showing ak47 traits, this is the smelly one but still not too bad, a tangy grapefuit sort of smell. I have no fillter and its manageable with te window open next to the cabinate.

hope this is usefull cool.gif

I've no experience with he Ona block so if other people say it should be effective for you I can't argue with that. Good luck with it mate biggrin.gif

Hey everyone, thanks a lot for all the useful info! smile.gif

It seems like auto kush would be the way to go for low scent. However, in terms of sourcing feminized seeds, I think I will have to go with the easy ryder.

I don't mind paying the cash for only fem seeds since the way I see it, each seed is about an oz of mj. I only use max 1g a week, which makes me self sufficient for well over a yr with one pack of seeds! smile.gif

The main attraction to this whole growing is doing away with the guilt of going out and meeting a dealer, and indulging my love of plants by watching and nurturing one whose harvest I am currently quite intimate with during the weekends.
bhang353
Actually, I just looked closer at the easy ryders... £26 for just 3 feminised seeds. Still, that amount would provide me with enough to indulge with for about a yr assuming the 1oz/plant is accurate and I am able to grow it as well as others who've harvested that much.
