hi people cool.gif can anyone advise me what the best way to set off my seeds and how to do this unsure.gif
Arnold Layne
Take a small pot.
Fill it with seeds and cuttings compost.
Moisten and then make a small indent on top with the tip of a finger.
Drop seed in indentation, and cover with 1 - 5 mm of compost. Moisten again.
Place pot in warm, well lit situation. I put mine directly into my vegging 'drobe.
I use no propgator for seeds.
In ten years I have known maybe 3 seeds fail to pop under this method. Out of hundreds.

Is it better? Dunno, really. For me, yes. But I have freinds who use paper towels.
I just don't get why, though. If nature has managed for all these aeons without kleenex, seems odd we gotta use it now! So I don't. And I get as good a success rate as anyone else, as I said.
For a beginner, it is good to keep things simple as well. Handling cracked seeds with trailing roots can be an iffy affair!

I think people imagine Cannabis is some kind of unique plant requiring specific treatment, compost and feeds. When in fact, in its region, it is a hardy annual (some would say it is even a pest) that manages to thrive no matter what! I think Canabizmen have ripped millions from the pockets of people who have no general gardening knowledge and imagine that all the advertsing hype is factual lol.gif
The seeds germ like any other seed. I showed my (much better gardener) wife a thread about the paper towel method. Her response was twofold. First, laughter. Then she muttered "Tits!" and wondered off lol.gif

But some folk will pop along real soon to say how the PTM saved their grows. And hey, why not? Horses, courses and all that. Nowt is "Law".

do you just lay the seed on its side or just drop it in the little hole ??
station
drop it in the hole and cover with compost
Arnold Layne
Yup, I just drop it in there from a few inches up. Can't say as I notice which way round they go, just drop 'em and cover, water and leave.
