i was planning on getting some early misty from nirvana, but when i went to their website i noticed it had changed completely.lots of strains have been discontinued and they have lots of new ones with nearly all of them available in fem.
they have a strain called short rider which is very cheap and sounds like the kind of thing iv been looking for.
i would like some other opinions on it.i know its not going to be the best bud in the world but iv got some other strains that im growing for quality so id just like something that will flower early.
get-r-done!!

"Short Rider is a hybrid of our discontinued strains Top 44 and Early Special. Top 44 has long been a trade favourite because of its ability to produce commercially worthwhile amounts of strong, skunky buds in just 44 days of flowering. Early Special's Siberian ruderalis genes give Short Rider its unique ability to "autoflower" - to flower independently of light cycles. This means you won't need to maintain a strict lighting schedule for this strain - it will flower regardless! Short Rider is a must for growers with limited space or who simply want to finish extra early. The quality is amazing considering how little time it takes to finish."
sounds ok to me,and its pretty cheap as well.20 euros for 10,which would have been better if the pound wasnt so shit at the moment

i dont think its fully auto it probably throws out a few autoflowerers an some which are normal, just like geurillas gusto etc with rudderallis in theyre genes...

Its an auto! Its even got "Rider" in the name! And it's by a long established "reputable" seed bank!
So where are all the auto haters now? C'mon then...pudumup!

neither top 44 nor early special are fully autoflowering, so its offspring wont be either... and it does not mention lowryder in its genes either which every other auto plant description does...

im sure it says ruderalis in the genes which is an autoflower trait so it should auto-flower
Bad Penny.

I remember in the 90's when Nirvana were simply known for knock-off strains, and a certain London seedbank were campaigning against them because of it,how times change

sorry penny i thought they WERE known for ripping off peoples strains but they still look nice. specialy the short rider if its like lowryder then ill be happy at half the price.
Bad Penny.

I think they have now gained a degree of legitimacy, lowered the price of several overly priced bean varieties, and in general been good for the growing fraternity, hope your short ryder comes good

i have grown some very good bud with nirvana seeds, they are very cheap as well.
their bubblicious was one of the best buds iv ever smoked, the smell and flavour was amazing.
their crystal and misty were also good.
anyone growing that short ryder or know any more about it yet?

well iv heard from a couple of people that are growing it at the moment that it does actually autoflower, one person even said it was flowering on 24hours of light.
i find this very strange as neither of its parent strains autoflower.maybe nirvana mixed in some lowryder without telling anyone.i wouldnt be suprised having heard some similar stuff about their company in the past.
anyone here growing this?

Siberian Ruderalis is what makes lr flower, lowryder company did not come up with an autoflower in a lab

i know,i meant they may have added a real ruderalis in with the top44 and early special.
because i dont see how just crossing top44 with early special could make a true autoflowering strain.

i beleive early special was part autoflower, some autoflowered some did not like other strains like mighty mite etc. so either they inbred the pheno's that went auto or they used some off the ruderalis genetics further up the family tree off the early special

Selective breeding - I expect they crossed the ones that
did autoflower.

so when did nirvana become a reputable breeder
agito
Jun 6 2009, 07:54 PM
since they made strong beans and decent germ rates for £20

and been knocking about longer than most the shops on here,
granted variation is massive and mostly knock offs and you do get what you pay for,
i wanted a cheap auto for outdoor thrills.

Got 2 of theese growing outside in southern finland and one is indoors under a 400w hps.

They are 1½months old..ish. No signs of flowering yet, they are also massive, so personally i think the title Short Rider is kind of misleading and also kind of a lame attempt to get some more market space with all the other lowriders and autoflowers out there. Also heard some jokes about it beeing the only autoflower that doesn't autoflower

... so Im a little bit worried about my outdoor ones.
I think nirvana has great service however ive also heard about fuckups, that somepeople have gotten male seeds in feminized packs etc.
But who cares as long as the bud is good right? just hope they start flowering soon, before summers over.

ditto.
yeah i think they should be called tall non-riders.
3.5 months and only JUST started flowering!
if the buds turns out ok it wont be too bad...but yeah.
product info is very very misleading, does exactly the oposite of what it promises!lol.
yeah iv also heard about someone getting males in a pack of feminized short riders, bit of a piss take really.
