Just wondering if your still suffering at all with the buzz. The reason I ask is cause I've just dug mine out from it's box and set it going. I had the same problem starting from cold. It would buzz for around 8 seconds and then stop. A minute later it would do the same thing. Left it on for an hour and it's stopped making any buzzing noise at all. Just found ths thread via a search.

Its usually a lose connection somewhere, usually where the to leads join together, where the lead from the ballast and the reflector join that is.

¿Is one reflector earthed and the other isn't? unsure.gif

Any buzzing in C&C ballasts is usually caused by the transformer inside resonating at certain frequencies - this could come and go as the temperature of the insides changes and the components expand or contract.

e²a: Also make sure that the lamp is very firmly screwed into the CoolTube's lamp holder - not being quite all the way in could cause the buzzing. wink1.gif

Just been and checked that and it's not lose. it's very "firmly" fitted.

E2a. the bulb is tight in the holder as well. It's a maxibright ballast if that makes any difference??

ive been having this problem for a while to now on one of my ballast i think its jus a cheap 600w maxibright, it buzzes when it comes on for about 10 seconds every minute for i dunno how long. not all the time tho it stops after a while.
ive got 2 other ballast an they dont do it.
also its cooltubed
no ideas, i checked all connections an tried different connections an alls ok with that but it still buzzes.
the only thing that makes a diff i think is having it plugged in on its own with the other lights i have off but this was even when the others were in diff wall socket.
also it doesnt make any kinda spike or raise in current or electric as i got one of those usage lcd display things an it makes no diff when buzzing if anyone wanted to know that.

Huuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmm I've had the same power pack for around 12 months now and I have decided to go check everything and have come across some buzzing with my MAXIBRIGHT 250 watt pp.I know they are cheapish and to be honest I dont know how long they are supposed to last ph34r.gif the buzzing has always been the same for me at first when it runs through the contactor/relay I hear it a load to start off with but then it tones down to a ever so slight buzz.Mine sounds worse because I have it in a metal case and inside the case its obviously hollow so any sound coming from my power pack sounds alot more lauder I have just worked this out? lol.gif.I thought at first it was to do with the way I had it tilted ?. When I had to pull it out of the metal case all the buzzing stopped and was nothing to do with my power pack being tilted the wrong way,? thinking it was that causing the problem so thats the buzzing sorted out me thinks is there anything else safety wise I should know cry.gif pinch.gif I felt the heat from that thing so Im gonna get some thick tiles that I have spotted just for the job, the thing is I will have to ask the dude if he minds I can take a couple, problem is what can I say they are for?.They are rite at the end of his drive way at the end of my street cry.gif .Hell i'm not getting done for theft off some silly shitty tiles(tiles that can save the house from burning down I no) it looks as though they are there to be waiting to be get ridd off anyway, his gardens full of all kinds of stuff like that ideal for our stuff ie, 4 inch tubing or 6inch, tiles, there's wood he is a plumber by trade so there's all sorts. He always lets on so help me with that excuse guys what could I use a couple of tiles for that are laying about in his garden as scrap?. cry.gif unsure.gif

Just say that you want them to support some planters in the garden or something. wink1.gif
