thought id post pics of the fish ive had this season so far , there are 2 pics missing a 16 lb mirror (i will get that pic) and a 16lb common that i couldnt graph as my batterys died

here goes

first is a 25lb 2oz mirror known as split tail caught over a spodded bed of chilli hemp maize crushed boilies and sweetcorn , 2 pices of maize and a piece of fake corn did the business

then a few hours later from a 2 ft margin spot i had this , me and this fish have a history i wrote about him before on here , twice he has managed to escape me at the net but not this time and he was down in wieght too

and last but not least this fish i had yesterday not a big fish at 17lb 6oz but what a stunner

Congrats, Jiffa, not being a fisherman myself i have very little too say on that matter, and just wondered into the tight lines section randudmly

But those things are monsters, do you munch them? Or throw them back?

yeah mate the same fish , my fav fish of the lake is why you got both sides . i always take pics of both sides easy to spot if i catch her again

best been that 25 i had out first time on theres loads of doubles to get past to get at the bigger fish .. struggling to get at the bigger ones tbh..

all good fun though shows the bait,rigs etc etc are good enough just have to keep on going threw the little ones to get some of the bigger fish

another water has cats in there up to fifty odd pound thinking of having a go at them tbh never had a cat .....

honest mate i wasnt on the piss take i always fish spoddin particals but find the bigger fish come to beds of boilies and a 2 bait stinger as i like to call them

try it on one rod next time , sure them lumps will come along soon enough . what do they run to in there mate ?

times are hard mate had to sell some gear, spod rods gone along with the bait boat to, so launching seeds etc etc is on hold for now apart from a mini spod ive got think ill try just boilies and stringers like you say

getting loads of liners, twitches, etc, etc, with the method you certainly know when a run is due as your getting bleeps and plenty of rod knocking
then bam its away.changed back to braid as mainline to ,got me rod pulled in about a week or so ago

that was entertaining to say the least

I always did when fishing for salmon and sea trout at home in Ireland and the pike fishing was always good to .. well in so much as the bigger females were on the move closer to the full moon .....

nah mate they say a new moon phase is best but i dont belive it makes a difference

ive followed moon phases for quite while now boys and imo theres defo something to it, certainly more than coincidence... if the pull of the moon pulls a thirty foot bump into the sea (tides) surely it effects fresh water in the same way along with its inhabitants

when was the last time anybody can remember they caught fish on a full moon ?????cant even remember catching on a full moon myself .........which apparently is a really poor time for fishing

Im in 2 minds about all the Moon phase business..... The thing is there's no-way I can plan my fishing round Moon phases so I dont bother with it.I mean if my other half whats to get rid off me for a day or 2 Im not gonna bother turning down the chance if the Moon phase is shit,but also I dont go thinking im not gonna catch because of it either......

Maybe its more of a confidence thing feck knows........

last time i remember fishing with a full moon carpnkid i had a 28lb and 14lb mirror on a night one of my pals wouldnt fish because of the moon phase

oh yes jiffa couldnt agree more with that mate.. just dont seem to catch on a full moon myself on the waters we go on ,

(just got back from a quick overnight blank on the canal under a nearly full moon)

ive been all over that moonstrike site and after reading it all it feels to me like theres something in it for sure.. it suggests that the better fish tend to get caught more at peak times

another thing i read on there was those times (we have all had them) when no one on the lakes catching then all of a sudden a few random alarms go off within a few minutes of each other he was saying that could also be down to peak times etc etc

take a look at the geezers predictions and the fish caught when he said good fish would be caught ....

with out a doubt sea trout and salmon are hot on or near to a full moon ... better if cloudy ... the sea trout will run waters no more than 4/5 inch deep .. I have stood in the tail end of a pool at 3 am in the morning and had 100s of sea trout running up between my legs ... and big to up to about 7/8 pounds ......in shallow runs of a few inch's

with pike it seems to be the bigger females that get active .... my mate in Ireland will only fish for specimen fish near a full moon ... and he has kept a diary going back 30 odd years .. with all the moon phases ect ... and if you read back over the years ... all his big pike (up to 34 plus) are got on or near a full moon ....
