Would it be safe to run a 4-way surge protected extension cable from my ever so slightly far away socket then plugging an envirolite contactor timer thing into that with a 400w HPS going?

Also a bonus to stop my paranoia is Ive found 2 fire extinguishers suitable for my gr used one and it worked fine so keeping the other one under my bed just incase lol.gif oh and going to get a smoke alarm to be on the safe side.... ph34r.gif

Cheers!!

The surge arrestor is only there to stop electronic equipment misbehaving when the fridge shuts off.

All you have to worry about in this context is that your cables can handle the current.

All I will have running in my set-up will be 1x 400w HPS, 3 inline fans and one oscilating fan I assume a good quality extension will handle this easily spliff.gif

it goes contactor then extension then timer

i do hope you know those envirolite timers are nothing special and simply a normal timer but much more expensive as it has the name envirolite attached to it ?

as for your other safelt concerns then good on yeh , loft grower here with a smoke protector next to the hole and a fire extinguisher next to it also just in case
The stone roses
It says on the "auction site" that the timer has a built in contactor.

You'll be ok,,,I use a reptile 8 way surge protector with 4 digital timed sockets built in with no problems, and it's attached to a 6ft heavy duty extension cord.. Picked it up on ebay. Is sweet, got tired of the old style ones burning out or not working properly.
