Hi Peeps,

Took a trip to B+Q today for some of the Westland compost I have seen people on here recommend, ended up buying a couple of "60L grow bags" of West + Advanced, is this the right stuff ?

The other question is about Nutes, Bio Bizz grow has an NPK ratio of 8-2-6 after checking all the available I found B+Q organic food concentrate with an NPK of 6-2-4 it's a third of the price of Bio Bizz will this be OK ?

Thanks in advance.

I always prefer lower strength organic nutrients - they are far harder to overdose with and they tend to contain useful levels of trace elements. smoke.gif

Thanks Spud,

It's got trace elements of Boron, Calcium, Copper, Iron and Manganese. I did a bit of reading up on the old NPK stuff and as far as I can see there's no need to spend loads of money on Canna specific food, waits to be shot down in flames.........

Do they do a similar one for blooming? Might be worth doing a test with it if it's that much cheaper.

Cheers for that too....tried my two local garden centres today and neither of them had it...I was wondering if any of the biggies stock it and now I know ,save me driving round for ages at the weekend thumbsup.gif

Why would anyone do that, ie shoot you down in flames?

To actually compare, what are the dilution rates for the b@q fertiliser? You need that to compare costs.

OK

I'm calm now, thanks Oldtimer.

It's just that I mentioned last year that I used Chempak plant food (observing the NPK) as I thought right, I was told off big style.........We live and learn. OK I now know organic is more pleasant to the plant.

The optimum Mix stated from the Litre pot is 166 Litres, twice the mix for field plants than containers so it depends what you are growing.

I've never used any canna specific nutes and chempak has always been good for me, I'm pretty sure Owderb is a chempak user as well. My weed doesnt snap crackle and pop like a lot of hydro weed does when it hasn't been flushed properly.

Sorry but in that case, maybe I should be told off, I have recommended Chempak several times in the past [the first here] in the non organic compost forum, it is a perfectly good chemical feed giving good results for those who choose to grow cannabis with chemical salt fertilisers.

Anyhow I never use bb grow at a higher rate then 3 ml per litre, that means you get at least 333 litres of feed from a litre, so the B@Q is cheaper, is it as good? I don't know, I would have to test them side by side and see what the plants did and how they responded.

Joe I think Owd uses growers arc, but as this is the organic section, the pros and cons of chemical verses organic and what is best is not up for discussion as its a pointless argument. Anyhow you can download the Which trial on liquid feeds done in 2004 here.
