Hi all,
Switching on my PS3 today I was greeted with what is known as the YLOD (Yellow Light Of Death (I think!)) The PS3 came on started it's boot up but within seconds yellow light flashed, it beeped 3 times then red flashing light.
I never new such a thing existed with the PS3.

I've just bought RE5 and have been getting into the game (although much prefer the wiimote and nunchuck controls of the RE4 Wii version). So the game is stuck in the console.

I phoned Playstation uk's customer service number they said it sounds like the HD has overheated. They will send out a refurb PS3 tomorrow which I can't grumble at *e2a well depends on what state the refurb model is. But said it may take up to 6 weeks to get my game disc back, or they will replace the disc. 6 weeks is a long time to wait for a newly purchased game!!. What happened to the days of being able to put a straightened paper clip in the little hole to manually eject the disc? Grrrrrrrr.
I no longer have the email address that I set the master account on do you think this will cause any problems? Will I lose this account and associated trophies (rank etc in COD).
I've also been told to check my DLC.

Has anybody else had this happen to them?

Oh well time to replay RE4 Wii version

Edited to add*
weed_G
you could try holding the eject button for 2 minutes

I've heard of this happening to a few peeps now. What version of PS3 are you using. IE: 40GB, 60, 80? I've had my 60 since it first came out, but use a 40 downstairs, and can't say I've had any probs, but am well aware that peeps do have them.

Personally I would get rid of games consoles and build a top end computer for next to nothing, you just have to search ebay for pc bundle packages which comprise of cpu, memory and motherboard for just over £100 or for a high spec quad core you are talking the most of £300, After that you just need to find a half decent graphics card.

I've built a few for kids of family friends and they all say the pc gaming is better than the consoles.

Greetings,

I have a super top-end bespoke PC m8, and trust me when I say it's blinged out wink.gif, but I never play games on my PC. That's what consoles are for wink.gif For people like me who can't get to grips with the keyboard controls of a PC, then console gaming is a must wink.gif

Different strokes for different folks..."what you talkin' bout Willis" . On that note, I'm off to play Killzone 2 whistling.gif

Peace and one love

If the keyboard functions are a bit too much you can get a console type controler that is either usb or goes into the port in the back of the computer. I completely understand where you are coming from though buff I used to think why bother with games on the pc when you have a console but once you get comfortable you wont want to go back to gaming on consoles.

Greetings,

I know what you mean m8, but I think I'll stick to consoles. However, you always see the top gamers in the world using PC's, so there's no way I can knock it wink.gif

I wouldn't use the towel method, thats known to kill them pretty quickly. I've used the oven a few times, that works really well but I still have to do it every so often. I can post the recipe if anyone needs it.

Its usually the other way round, i cant believe you didnt check! Our dishwasher went recently, 2 fucking weeks past the warrent expirey date.

Thinking about it, all stuff seems to either break just after the warrenty expires or lasts forever.

Wow didn't realise there were all these replies in this thread.
My console was replaced the next day, amazingly I remembered password for master account.

Finally Sony have replaced my Call Of Duty World At War.. What a carry on. And the call centre staff less than useless especially when you're are stonewalled with the ubiquitous "well, what do you want me to do?". *Fuming* How about you replace my game that you should have done 2 months ago you fecking numpties.
Anyway I got a copy of inFamous for free but the jury is out on that game at the mo'. Not really any consolation for the time taken (So yes Xbox fans rejoice in Sony's crappiness).

Buffalo, Mine was a 40 GB model if that's any help

Dohped, there is no manual eject on the PS3 much to my chagrin
