hey, as the title entails ive got a Dutch Passion Blueberry thats going to be taken out of the flowering room for cut down! thumbsup.gif
it wasnt until a close gardener friend came over for a sneek-peek that this issue was observed...
the plant was 1 of 2 from seed that was given to me by said friend, his germination sucess was 6 out of 8, 7/10 not bad
any way, his finished a while ago,(bubblers vs soil) and took 10wk mines taken 12 - from looking at trichomes throu my 420 scope!
the pack states the strain is 80%indica 20% sativa. all of his were apparantly obviously indica dominant plants, short and bushy
mine how ever is a tall and leggy sassy purple haired girl looking to me with almost total opposite genetics.
id never given it any thought, not having the seed packet etc, i grew it expecting a smelly purpley-bluey thing and thats what i got!
i had to top it because of the growth and height restriction of 5ft in flowering room.

i wondered if this sort of genetic difference is common?
isnt dp's blueberry an oldsckool true breeding strain?
and has any body else had a grown it - commments or even a sativa dominant one before ? unsure.gif

any feed back would be great.

-ill put sum pics up 2mo of the harvest and start my armageddon and strawberry haze diarys while ive got the camera out!
take care guys

i have grown bb from white label seed co. same thing happened. 95% where short bushy. the other 5 where tall, and showed strong sativa characteristics ( excuse the spelling ). no matter what anyone says a plant is just like any other living thing on this planet. it will never be the same time and time again. especially when its been mixed with another with another breed from the genus???? ok i've a friend whos great great grandad was black. he is as white as me. so is all his previous generation on family. his wife is also white. they have twins. jacob is as black as the ace of spade's and daisy is pure blonde liily white! lol.gif both seeds where from the same packet, and both grown in the same pot! and yes !!!! dna they are there's! so there you have it. I read that Dutch Passion have a policy of making seeds that produce uniform plants rather than wide pheno expressions, and I have found this to be true with the 3 packs of Blueberry and 4 packs of Durban Poison I've grown out over the years. The DP Blueberrys all grew the same, and were ready in 7-9 weeks, but some were a better smoke.

I'm growing DJ Shorts Blueberry now, and the 3 phenos I have look like they will be fast finishers - one has completely frosted fanleaves just under 5 weeks from 12/12. If you put them next to Dutch Passion BB you'd see little difference. Actually I prefer the DP version so far, so hope this crop is better otherwise I won't keep them. I've crossed one with SSH and will cross another with Black Widow, so might grow out these instead.

That makes sense, I think I also read that DP used DJ Shorts pollen with his approval for their Blueberry. I wondered if the DP version was based on an earlier version of Blueberry than the one being sold as original now. I also grew the DP in NFT and the DJs in soil, which may have made a difference.

I'd like to try one of the other DJ Shorts strains next - thinking about Flo..

i just harvested my second DP blueberry, no real problems at all. the first plant yield was only an oz of dried buds, but very tasty. The second one lookslike about 2.5 oz of dried bud, some real big buds that look nice, pics to follow shortly. guitar.gif
