Planning on growing 8 x himalayan gold and 2 x Alaskan Ice, germinating in a propogator using wet kitchen towels and then growing in root trainers on my window sill. then when big enough moving to the grow.
the grow is approx 5ft x 12ft with chicken wire around and a water butt to collect rain water. i have turned the soil over and taken all roots out and put cedar logs around the edges to make a raised bed,
I'm new to this so any tips would be very much appreciated

Thats quite a big spot for 10 plants, are any fems?

did you chop down tree's to make a raied bed? cry.gif
420Farmer
They look freshly cut to me
Ned48759
yes i did chop down trees but they are cedar which are not native to these parts, the whole area has been replanted with oak, ash and birch so there is no need to worry smile.gif

lol.gif lol.gif the only bit i understand is ph6.5/7 lol.gif anyway you do know that cannabis is illegal? lol.gif just looks like your gnna be giving guided tours of your spot. some people like to keep it natural so as not to look more suspicious. but if your sure no1 will find it then go ahead. btw looking nice though mate
Ned48759
thanks for the concern weedineed, but its a very very isolated and remote spot smile.gif,
cheers skunkalot
Ned48759
So far... i have put my seeds on wet paper towels in between 2 plates in the propogator, and all 10 germinated nicely smile.gif i then put the popped seeds in potting soild in root trainers inside my propgator and so far 5 have come up, but i'm expecting the rest soon smile.gif

just bought a lowryder#2 fem from picknmix seeds and germinated it yesterday. Thought it would be nice to have some herb for the summer smile.gif. anyway the site for my himalayan gold is done, mixed john innes multi purpose in with some well rotted manure and a tiny bit of fish blood and bone. if i appear to be missing something please say so as i'm new to all this smile.gif
cheers for the comment 'legalise'.
if anyone has any experience growing lowryder #2 how long will it take? i've read websites which say 9 weeks from seed to smoke but on the packet the seeds came in it said 10-12weeks flowering period. so im a bit confused tbh

I got about a half ounce per plant i'd say, i've heared people say you can get more than that, the bud was a bit on the leafy side, but all the little leafs were covered in trich's so i dryed it all out and blazed it like it was normal bud.
Tbh i found the smoke quite nice, much better than all the shit i could get my hands on locally, and much cheaper too.

Hi Ned,

good luck with the grow- all looks very nice...

I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

I've got 5 Himalaya Gold on the go, they just popped up to say hello. Let's hope they're around to grow big and strong.

Your avatar made me laugh. Did you take that picture?

Peace
Ned48759
hello GradyTripp, its nice to hear someone else is growing himalaya gold, from what i understand it seems a good strain, but i haven't come across many others grwoing it on uk420. mine are a month and a week now (roughly) and are looking good. one was slightly deformed as a seed and never seemed to bring get any decent leaves out and has just died. but the other 7 are looking great, i just put four out in my grow (below) and seem to be fine smile.gif
No i didn't take my avatar pic, i just though it was slightly different to everone else's.
let me know how your grow's doing?

Here's my Himalaya Gold so far
GradyTripp
Hi Ned,

Yep, I thought the Himalaya would be a good starting point for a first grow. I also read that they're a nice smoke and good yield. I'm growing mine in my garden (heavily disguised by tomatoes and other veg) and I read (can't remember where) that the Golden Girls don't smell as much as some other varieties.

Yours are looking good. Mine have just been up about a week now... I can't wait for the summer and watching the little beauties grow up.

I'll be popping in for a look at your grow regularly. And I just stared my own grow diary. Any hints an tips along the way will be greatly appreciated.

Good luck!

Ned48759
I thought they would be a good starting point aswell, especially as they grow quite big it would be very satisfying and confidence boosting for growing again.
thanks mine are better than i thought they'd be to be honest, i hope yours gold blend in well with the tomatoes ph34r.gif, if you have any cloche's you should use them as mine immediatley shot up under glass, but if not im sure they'll be just fine:) the smokes a 'creative high' from what i've read but i'm yet to try some for myself.
I wish you the best of luck and hope that 2009 is sunny. smile.gif
Ned48759
I got bored so took a pic of my lowryder #2 fem, 5days old.

Time for an update... My Alaskan ice and Himalayan Gold are all now outside and looking ok, its been very windy for the last couple of days but the stalks are thickening up nicely:) i was thinking of using some bamboo for support? a does anyone have any experince of this? should i use ties or will they restrict growth?

Here's my Lowryder #2 fem 20 days old now.

mitymoocow
Don't bother with the bamboo, they'll be fine. When the buds start bulking up you might need to support the branches but untill then you should be ok.
Ned48759
I took a walk to my grow the other day and found my hiamalaya gold have brown spots on the leaves, they are on the oldest leaves and some have dried up and dropped off at the ends. Has anyone an idea what this could be? I've read it could be too much nutrients, and i think i lack of nitrogen can cause this?

Any opinion much appreciated as i would like to understand what is causing it and right it as as possible!

hi ned.
how big are your plants because if they are a fair size then i wouldnt worry to much unless it looks like its spreading, however if they are still young then im guessing it could be lack of something. maybe wrong so dont take my word for it.

Time for an update smile.gif
The last couple of days have been the warmest so far this year and the girls have really come along. The Ice is loking good and i've been watering with Some B&Q Fruit and Vegetable food concentrate which seems to have made a nice difference

Ned48759
Thanks mate smile.gif,
the golds coming along a little slower than i expected to be honest, considering it's meant to be big, but i'm just being too concerned probably.
Here's the LR2, 45 days old. Anyone have some idea when it'll be ready??

i was reading another grow diary yesterday and there was a pic of some pre flowers which look very simillar to the ones on my lowryder #2 fem, the comments following this picture said it was a male. so i'm wondering whether mine is also one? i hope it isn't, anyway here's some pics of it...
