Salutations, Citizens of the blessed Republic UK420!

This is my first ever grow - I am growing in a cabinet which is homemade and diamond sheeting lined, using a Blue 200 watt 6400k CFL. Passive environmental control at the mo.

I am growing plants with lean to the Sativa side (not pure). 'Sweet Sativa Special' (Feminised) and a (freebie) 'Haze' seed. I will tie down and top when required.

I started seeds in Root Riot cubes and have transferred seedlings (including cube) to small pots with 100% All Mix.

They are approx 3.5 weeks old now and I have them under the light running 18/6 photoperiod.

Question 1: I have read that I should feed them after two/three weeks of being in the soil - Is this the case for plants in All Mix?
Question 2:I am sure someone here has experience of Sativa - what nutrition should I be using and what would the schedule be?

Other info:

I have used a touch of B&Q Summer Fruits Fertiliser - but I am worried I could under nourish or burn them using this (I mixed the granules with filtered water and have shook and disolved them.

I noticed a pale brown spot (size of pinprick) yesterday on one Sweet Sat Spec and a 4mm stripe of approx the same colour on the Haze seedling. I moved light up and fed with the solution I described above - no further spots or stripes have appeared and no other signs of ill health.

The Haze seedling I damaged when staking by crushing the stem - bugger! I supported it with some wire and it has continued to grow - the crush site has hardened so hopefully will be ok.

thanks in advance for any help.

Hmmm no replies...did I say the wrong thing?

I will just keep an eye on the babies and see how they progress.

High m8,

As you describe your young plants, they seem to be ok I guess. Just don't try to tell what's wrong with the plant before it happens and give the babies loads of stuff that could harm them. Don't feed until the plants ask, in other words give the plants only what they need.

At the moment don't expect much on the foliage, plants need to establish good rooting system. So you will need to watch for that, once they have good roots they are able to suck all that juice and stay health and grow big. That's what I can say, I know no more.

Good luck with your grow m8.

And don't worry, the boys at UK420 might be busy somewhere. They'll answer you, they always do m8.

Thanks for the reply and advice. I will leave them alone. I would love to know when I should feed them though, the AllMix is meant to be very nutrient rich and it holds water well.

for a first grow I'd kill the haze unless the pure sativa high is your focussed goal.... fate almost did it for you but you swerved! It could take for ever to finish, unless you know the strain? and some stretch like bastards..... the smoke will be worth it but you could get a couple of grows of the hybrid in in the same time.....
stu sleeper 20vt

feed nothing in soil, just pot em up regular when the roots are sticking out of the drainage holes aplenty.
sativa's in particular i find need very little additional feed.hell, they grow in piss poor soil in they're places of origin.
once your into your final pot then wait 4 weeks and start feeding would be my advice.
and also,i don't think you realise how big sats get, they need more than 200w generally.your gonna have to research scrogging to get the best from your light as enviro's don't have a good penetration.

Thanks for the advice stu. I checked my Greg Green Bible and he says to feed, but at much reduced strengths than it says on the bottles of feed. I want to avoid any undernourishment be it Micro or Macro nutrients.

I am aware of the Sweet Sativa Special getting to 1.2 metres - high according to the place I got the seeds (Seedmadness). The Haze plant may be male anyway - if so I may hide it outside. I was just thinking of tying them down and cropping them back - but after doing a fair bit of reading here I am going to be looking at SCRoG - Green's book has info and examples of this method.

Stu - What determines the penetration of a lamp? I have not come across this term before?

Billious - you said 'for a first grow I'd kill the haze unless the pure sativa high is your focussed goal - being new I did not know this plant was pure Sativa - but I will keep it. I suffer from depression and the grow is my first - which I am using to try and help with this. At least I know I can trust my own homegrown herb - I will not be smoking recreationally and indeed have not smoked hash/herb for 10 years. So will be taking it nice and slow when I do.

I will be trying out Greg Green's instructions for a homemade vapouriser.

Thanks for replies guys yinyang.gif
