ive just paid 60quid for mine,so 45 is good.its my first time too so im no expert but if you follow the instructions it tells you what your ec is,and you adjust accordingly or leave-be.theres loads of threads on ec for various stages.i think when you get to week 5 you start to lower ec,im not sure though unsure.gif i think the pens great,i was way over-feeding before stoned.gif

start using it, they're idiotproof and difficult to break. they also need no calibration or maintenance (except for an occasional clean of the contacts).
don't forget that you have to take the base EC (the water alone) into account when your setting your levels.. a good starting point would be to do your normal mix and then take a reading. you can then adjust up or down to see what effect it has on the plants.
there are plenty of posts on EC levels in the help sections.

Use the truncheon to measure what you're doing right & tell us about it... wink.gif

yes start using right away in the 4th week of bloom your ec should be 1.8 and keep thier till the last week when you should just use ph adjusted water only also once a week flush for 24hrs with just ph adjusted water in nft you should also use pythoff to prevent disease

Have to say this is one of the few pieces of hydro gear I've gotten that has not failed me one single time (easy podgy your tempting fate and setting the stage for a problem rofl.gif)

Deffinately a sturdy piece of gear too... mines fallen off my barrel resi onto a cement slab many times and it hasn't skipped a beat because of it... Just felt it was worth restating stoned.gif

ohh yes mine cost me £75 so you got a great deal iv never seen them cheaper than £60 and yes very no extreamly reliable

If you're getting good results, then the truncheon can help by providing and extra (and very reliable) measure of what you're doing (in terms of the nutrient concentration) so that you can repeat it again & again and communicate with others (eg on here) quickly.

Exactly... so my advice would be to continue the good work, tweaking your technique as you see fit, using the truncheon to measure what you're doing (eg so that if a tweak doesn't work you can quickly get back to the concentration that you were at originally etc.)

Personally I'd avoid strictly adhering to the EC measurements mentioned in charts etc. - that's a potential distraction from the business of growing - I see them as providing a useful starting point beyond which your plants will tell you how they're doing (see here & here (see paragraph listed as #1))

Hope this helps

I also just bought one of these for my next grow. Going hydro of coarse. I spent 10 mins on google and managed to find one brand new for £50 with free postage. Was well chuffed.

No one can tell someone what their ec should be

You have no need to flush every week

And there is no need to use pythoff neither

And just to finish there is no need to ph water when flushing at the end
