If you're getting good results, then the truncheon can help by providing and extra (and very reliable) measure of what you're doing (in terms of the nutrient concentration) so that you can repeat it again & again and communicate with others (eg on here) quickly.

Exactly... so my advice would be to continue the good work, tweaking your technique as you see fit, using the truncheon to measure what you're doing (eg so that if a tweak doesn't work you can quickly get back to the concentration that you were at originally etc.)
Personally I'd avoid strictly adhering to the EC measurements mentioned in charts etc. - that's a potential distraction from the business of growing - I see them as providing a useful starting point beyond which your plants will tell you how they're doing (see
