Could be fire weed(rosebay willowherb), Grows to 5 ft ish, pink flowers. Very common on recently reclaimed sites, Called fire weed because it grew on the bomb sites during the blitz.
At this time of tear the birds are feeding there young, poisend slugs are not the tasty snacks the young want. ( no worse than mc d's for human young!)
When i plant outdoors I clear the area around the plant and trimm the lower branch of the plant. i then use the top 4 inches of a 10 inch pot to surrond the plant. This worked last year and is working this year. I planted two bahia black heads out in secluded spots at the start of april both 4 ft with stems the size of my thumb.
