thanks trebor, so im wanting to take the temps above the light? I have been taking them at the level of the canopy, that could be where im going wrong as my tems are around the 35.c mark. Me thinks thats a little on the hot side

Hi GJ, thats where i thought it would go as surely you want to know the temps around the plants and as the plants are in the direct light seems like the obvious place, I hope im wrong as i said my temps are very high. sad.gif

Heat rises... So heat will be different from floor level...

I'd say, you should keep the thermonitor close to ground level and OUT of direct sunlight ie in the shadows for accurate readings...

There seems to be a difference of opinions here, anyone else like to offer there advice?

you need to have your thermometer at canopy level but of direct light. I use a thermometer with a probe on it and rest the probe near the top of the canopy hooked over a branch but shaded by a leaf, failing that put yer thermometer imnside a crisp bag or summat to shield it, it the ambient temperature your measuring wink.gif and that IS the correct answer rofl.gif well thats my answer and im sticking to it wacko.gif
