this year i've decided to give my bezzy mate a chance on the old outdoors with me as he's been busting do do a grow with me for a while after seeing that last 3 yrs results, he's safe as houses and i'd trust him with my life. we're prob gonna go for a mix of dp,s durban, trance, twilight, passion 1, and female seeds easy sativas. there gonna be in 6 x 10 plant plots. locations as yet unknown, i'm gonna grow mothers this yr and take cuts with a view to planting the clones mid april time instead of doin em all from seeds purely for econonmic reasons, i had planned to use some regs in this grow, guerrillas gusto, biddys sister, and tnr but i just haven't the time to sex them so they will have to be kept for next year. i'll be doing 9 plants at my own sites just for myself so if the coop goes a bit pete tong i'll still have some backup, or thats the plan anyway. i'll start another thread for my own grow as it'll get confusing if not.
happy growing everyone

Your growing in pots instead of straight in the ground? Or is that just your mother plants your talking about and the cuts will be going straight in? I always thought you were anti pot growing (no pun int) as it means more watering and the roots cant get as big. What are the advantages of growing in pots?

maybe, lets put it like this matey the mothers i'm gonna be planting april 1st will be the biggest plants i've planted out by far plus they're going out earlier than normal. i reckon when i plant them they'll be around 4 or 5 times the size of the big powerplant i did yr before last and a fortnight earlier out.

i do believe they have. ouncy boy holds a cream of the crop trophy allthough i don't know if its outdoor but i reckon it is. Malana cream also holds a cotc trophy for a beautiful pink bud and i think thats outdoor also but again i ain't certain. outdoor if grown well can be as good as indoor and imo better in some instances, if the weathers good and the grower has a decent working knowledge of growing and is using a good strain its not out of the question to better the average indoor weed. look thro hazys 07 diary imo some of the bud shots at harvest time ish deserve a fooking medal. quality pictures and quality herb. outdoor does tend to be lower quality on the whole as are summers are poor, look to spain and beyond where the sun is stronger and the outdoor pisses all over a lot of the average growers indoor imo. i mean surely weed grown outdoors under the sun in naturally fertile soil must be better than something grown under what equates to a giant sunbed, at the end of the day looks aren't everything. i've grown some shit looking herb before and its blown me away when i've cured and smoked it. cotc is a very visual thing so a bit of camera skills come in handy

tbh mate i do the same every time like a habit. i wait till i have 4 visible shoots under the grow tip and remove the tip, the rest the plant does itself. it can stress them a bit and slow there growth for a week or so. but i prefer to get it out of the way early and let the plant have a smooth ride from then on. the mothers have had a load of cuts ripped of allready and grown back within a fortnight

It never got above 25 last year, rained as much as the year before. I give this bitch 1 last chance for a decent summer, or I'm off to live in the South of France. [At least i still got some half decent results].
I'm really impressed Mr Munki, you were one of the inspirational GG's which got me started. Do you prep your spots as you find them, or are these sites well prepped months in advance? I'll be watching this one.

wait till you shmoke it, its one of the best outdoor sativa based plants i've smoked. it does have an indica look to the buddage and early on in veg, and its a bit body mashing too, but the sativa high shines through quite pushy on the old grey matter sometimes too intense for me. nice choice imo
sorry for the late response, i take cuts from wherever i can but the most vigorous come from the bottom, soft thin stems root better than the woody main branches but they'll root from wherever you take them it'll just take a little longer

can't see why not pal. take yr cuts like normal and bang em in a propagator next to yr plants. kepp it out of direct sun and mist with water occasionally as required and they should root like normal. i rooted all mine on the window bottom so outside should work just the same

if you mean take cuts and plant straight into the ground it could work, however you'd still need to place each plant uder a plastic bottle to keep the humidity up whilst it roots. i would reccomend rooting them in a prop on site and then planting, you will get a higher success ratio imo

all my digging is now done, i have still to plant the last hand full of clones but the soil is prepped its just a matter of dropping them into plae and putting the cages up. its been a real chore getting all the new sites prepped, we've used a few very heavy clay soil sites and improved it best we could by mulching in organic matter and solid feeds. tbh its hard finding sites were no one will go so quite a few are very cheeky to say the least, i'm playing a numbers game this year but with any luck we'll be smoking all next year in exchange for a bit of back ache and a few blisters so up to now i'm very happy with progress. top marks to my grow partner whos been on call at a moments notice to grab his spade and come digging. good man. you know who you are

an augers nice for turning any soil its kinda like a vertical rotivator, a big drill bit if you like. stones are not always a bad thing as rocks can help with drainage in heavy soils maybe not ones the size of a human head but anyway, all i did was dug over an area of around 2m x 1m to around a depth of 12 inches or so for four plants then dug in the organic matter, it clings to the surfaces of the clay lumps and prevents in bonding again then i put a couple of inches of matter and lightly fork in. it doesn't need to be super soil just so the roots can move through it easily. don't get me wrong clays a bitch but if you treat it right it'll do fine as it generally quite fertile.
Bad Penny.

I use an auger for my holes but I am working on an old abandoned market garden,if I were planting in clay even with an auger it would be very hard going, and decent sized rocks and boulders wouldnt be good for the auger bit nor the shoulders and hands if digging holes in number
