I was going through the gallery and came across a king of the crop photo of a variety called Malana Cream. This is a gorgeous purple variety that appeals to me because of the intense coloration (the only colors I see are intense ones). So I do some digging and find out about the Malana village in some dirt track in India where they grow this legendary pot, yada, yada, yada - marketing yada, yada. Holy grail of hash comes out of there. Fine, okay whatever. The plant is named for the hash or is the hash named for the plant or what?
Does anyone know where you can find this particular variety? I haven't found a seed bank for it and it had to come from somewhere, unless the name was chosen for another reason.
Can anyone better my reading of the trail before it goes totally cold? Has anyone grown this? What's the history of its lineage? Is there a grow report somewhere?
Help a fellow out... You need the karma and I need some more purple in my garden. You were made for each other...
Out with it...

The strain will have been named (by the seedbank) after the region because of the reputation of the hash. The plants traditionally grown in the region whilst very good in comparison to other regions, would not be as potent as modern day strains. Probably about the strength of good quality thai. The hash from it will ofcourse be very potent though. The strain that you're referring to is probably a native strain from the region crossed with something modern to increase yield and potency. Mandala Seeds offer several strains containing land race genetics from the Indian subcontinent.

Balls. Wouldn't you know? Beauty and power are always the bridesmaids but never the bride. <<le sigh>> I had visions while I was suffering my usual insomnia last night about Malana Cream growing in my garden. I was going to cross it with this Russian Roulette and call it Purple Rain.
That will have to continue being a vision only...
Thank you for the info peeps.
