Hi, I am just about to start SCROG ing my plant but was just wondering how i would go about changing the water in the bubbler resevoir as once the girl has got all attatched to the screen lifting her up to remove bucket will surely be impossible?
Any hints/tips would be greatly received thanks

is she in an oxypot mate or a home made system ?

not oxypot guess you could call it home made i bought it off of flee bay is 30l bucket with hydor air pump in bottom. has clear level indicating tube attatched at bottom. was thinking maybe could bend this down and drain through it and just crack the lid slightly to refill but the pump has scaled up before and i like to inspect it when i do nute changes

A spare pump, buckets and plenty of hose are pre-requisites for hydro growing

And it dont hurt to have a couple of supasize sponges near by...

Cheers for replies.
Ok so are you saying that i should be pumping the water out of the reservoir and into a bucket with a submersible pump? i guess that would work as i would only need to crack the lid of the resevoir open slightly to drop pump in. will this completly drain reservoir? and then i can pump back in from a bucket of fresh ph'd nutes right? all im worried about is getting to my air pump in bucket if it fails as it got very scaled/salted up once before and stopped bubbling.

I designed my system to be a bottom draining system that drains by virtue of hydrostatic pressure. You can't overfill the system (unless you shut the ball valve on the bottom drain) and it won't leak. When it comes time to drain, I just drain from the reservoir using a pump because my knees are getting too old to dick around with.
True satisfaction is a process of trial and error. You find out you don't like something and then figure a fix. Hydroponic systems are like. Keep the basic principles in mind and the design possibilities are sometimes endless.
Switch over to a bottom drain system. I did a 4-station system, with ball valves on all the buckets, gate valves on the reservoir drain returns (so I can isolate a bucket if I want to just by flipping a valve and pulling the feed line out), crush proof garden hose lines and connectors for around $45.00.
While this grow continues, take out some graph paper and design the ideal system for the environmental limitations you face and start collecting the parts to the new room. When the crop is done you can proceed with quick and cost-efficient construction because you took your time and planned out things to meet your goals.
You can do this. You just need someone to tell you can. Hey, buddy. You can do this.

cheers playground, some useful advice. I work in the water treatment industry so pipe fittings and parts wont be hard to come by. I reckon i'll just get a small pump to do reservoir changes for the time being until next crop and like you say i shall design something to suit my needs while i wait. Room may need altering though cos gaining height for allowing buckets to drain to a suitable container is what i lack hence the SCROG approach but ive a few months to come up with something. thanks for the encouragement.
