well my organic grow has been plagued with the borg aka spidermite for the last i don't know how long.
been using sbpi for about a year as it came recommended. believe me i was thorough in application , sometimes spraying to over run every single day, but it didn't seem to affect them much....
I came to the conclusion that the mites were pretty much immune to the sbpi.

I read on this site about the westland defence product and i must say a single application has done the impossible and resulted in not a sole surviving mite.
I've managed also to get mainly on top of my Leaf spot fungus using rootgrow and canna actrivator.
some signs still remain around bottom leaves however.

I still have a bottle of spbi sitting around and am now wondering if it is worth using this spray for general plant health ?
i no longer have mites & understand that its antifungal action will kill off leaf fauna

I believe that SBPI will kill off the Trichoderma from your Aktrivator
Green Goblin
Any chems bug/fungi will kill any organic defence your using.

Peace,

Google rootgrow and buy it straight from the manufacturer, that's what I did, about £10 and it goes quite a long way.

I'm pretty sure Webby's Essence is not simply repackaged Rootgrow product from another company.

Then it is because you did it wrong, I've been using Essence for years now and when done properly it will deal with any fungal invasion

Rootgrow is no good for LSF ..... wink.gif

as has been said ..... essence - top right hand corner of your page .... wink.gif

As Felix said ..... anyone who say's it doesn't work - didn't prepare it correctly. ..... (or didn't have LSF in the 1st place ... whistling.gif )

Think of this more in an 'organic' fasion - not the cycle of disease - cure etc.. But vitality - no disease.
It sounds to me as if your plants are stressed in some way - quite possibly too hot and dry an environment, or irregular watering/feeding?

If there is a fundamental underlying problem you will chase problems forever, especially if you don't want to use loads of chemicals.

Hope this helps..

i dont want to sound like im bitching or anything, but thats a very bold statement to say!

i jumped on the "essence" band wagon straight away, got there kit & read the "instructions" over & over many many times.

then i started making this mix, i followed each instruction, & my conclusion was that it didnt work, yeh i was disappointed, as sooo many rage about it on here.

but after actually reading the "instructions" that are placed on HERE. it turns out that the "instructions" on the leaflet you get inside the pack, is incorrect.

by this i mean, its says:

step 1: place required amount of water into the container/bucket. connect the air pump & place the stone into water, aerate for at least 1 hour.

"i put 1 ltr into a bucket & did this for 1 hour"

step 2: add molasses at the rate of 1 teaspoon per ltr & aerate for 10 mins to dissolve

"reason i did only 1 ltr, so to add the 1 teaspoon of molasses"

step 3: add the essence at the rate of 1 teaspoon per ltr, be sure to sprinkle in, to stop lumps, aerate for 12 hours.

"another reason why i started with only 1 ltr"

step 4: after 12 hours remove the stone & place mixture into a pump sprayer, add to this 3ml per ltr of catalyst.

"another reason why i started with only 1 ltr"

can anyone spot whats going on here? "after reading the "onsite instructions"

well, i have started again with the onsite instructions, so mabe the "weaker" mix might work, i can only hope it does.

Well my vegative garden had extensive LSF, & i treated it with a one off dose of actrivator and also used rootgrow to repot.

This action totally removed any sign of LSF in the vegative stage and only in the last week of flowering did i find a few lsf damaged lower leaves. < i use biobizz nutes and would assume the molasses in the grow feed would be enough to feed the fungi, but i gave the plants an extra shot of molasses half way anyhow. >

I don't know about you but for me that seems effective enough without the need to pay out for a selection of the essence / catalyst /etc products.
