im new nice to be here btw. i want to do some hydro first time i have tryed soil in past and get to about 4 week mark and i kill them so i want to try hydro with lil money as i can, so any idea on a system or making one and the big guestion is a seed for me i want to grow the fastest hydro with most yeild and i want it to be the higest thc content. i know this is prolly the goal of lots of peeps on here but any help would be great thanks to all for your help.

if you cant get them past week 4 in compost then you have no chance of finishing a crop in hydro.

its harder and a lot less forgving than compost, and theres no strain in the world thats finished in 4 weeks.

E2A@ sk number1 aint good if your looking for a fast finisher, i had one go 11 weeks and the other was 12.5 weeks

Yup if you cant grow in soil there is no way you are going to be able to sort out hydro!

Read articles on this site & adjust your growing and start again in soil!

I am a noob grower,new, on my 4th grow,soil.. i have not even thought about ponics.. doubt it is too hard to know- but to put into play,different story; seen people kill off lots of plants, from root rot, nute def/OD, ph levels, theres just so many things to control. And then theres growing in soil.. still not simple.. rh,temp,training,rootballs ..blardy blar.

Soil is like a bike with stabilizers, ponics- a motorbike it needs a complete engine too move. Basically everything has too be perfect in ponics in my eyes.. Soil u can have some lil missing bits, and still carry on.

What happens at week 4?.. and week 4 of what..flowering/veg?

Listen to these guys mate, they make sense. Stick to growing in soil and work out where your going wrong. Hydro is just another baffling set of mistakes waiting to happen if don't learn and understand whats going on inside your plants.

As for seeds it's easy, chronic from serious seeds. Massive yielder, nice and fruity sweet smoke and as peps1 says, common as muck so you know you'll find loads of dirays and people growing it on here.

thanks all i should add that 4 weeks in soil was not in a good controled place they were in an open room with to much temp range i know what i done wrong and i plane on a grow tent that i can control all of this do you still think stick to soil for now if so then i will as i see you know what your talking about so what ever you say is the way i will go for now i jus need the best seed and best way and i can get set up ..again thanks much

well my profile may say that i grow aero, and the last grow was, and its a great method and system, but this time i am going back to compost.

and i think you should stick with compost until you have done at least one decent full grow, otherwise your asking for trouble, plus you have the cost of all your hydro setup, then a ph pen, ec pen, light, extraction, cf and tent, its not cheap and you say you dont want to outlay a lot, the minimum your gonna need for a compost grow is

Tent
extraction and carbon filter
oscilating fan
pots of varying sizes for potting on
nutes
compost
seed
pipettes for measuring nutes
watering can
hygrometer / thermometer

well now prolly 100 max as i jus was laid off my job so, smoking a bit now and i want to for once smoke my own ,, prolly be only grow i do so my biggest cost is light and i think im gonna go with 2 cheep grow lights from the hardware store any input ..i bout 90% on my seeds and i got the stuff on hand to build a small tent i have compost and all that all i need is nuts oh btw i will need advise on thoese as well as what to give and all that but that will be later im sure so i guess last thing is the lights will the screw in grow lights work for my grow thanks guys very much

Don't be put off hydro mate, it's a bit of extra hassle, but it's not that bad really. My first grow was NFT, which went ok for a first attempt, had poor luck myself in compost (bio-bizz allmix) for a couple of grows and am now hand feeding in coco and clay pebbles, much better results. If you're on a tight budget, maybe a 250 hps or a couple of eco-lights/enviros would do the trick, less heat to worry about for one thing, a bit cheaper too.

There's plenty of info on building your own NFT system, bubblers, etc in the DIY forum, check it out, but I wouldn't waste too much money on seeds just yet, not till you've got into a good routine with looking after the plants, mixing up nutes, identifying and dealing with problems and so on. Once you get into the swing of it (can take a few goes), you'll wonder why you never did it before. Best of luck with it mate, get a grow going and I can almost guarantee it won't be the only one you do.

TWO71, i think you have received very good tips from uk420 growers. Hydro systems are mostly recommended for expert growers. You must control perfectly ph, ec, fertilizers, medium you are using.... Soil always tolerates more failures than hydro, if you broke ph balance or have a fungus infection in the root system when growing in hydro systems, your garden could die in less than 3-5 days.

Rarely hydro weed surprise us ... it usually lacks of terpene complexity, high is more plain than organic weed (especially if you compare hydro with a good outdoor organic flower), maybe the hydro flowers look better when they are correctly grown, with huge ovaries and giant trichomes but they lack of essence. There are strains that work better in hydro than others, would recommend you to use strains with strong root resistance against fungus, usually sativas and sativa dominant strains work better in that kind of setups.

id recomend somthing with g13 for the high but dont make the same mistake as me and dont buy any seedsd from everyonedoesit.com they are so unrelible. when i orderd it took over 10 days to recive the seeds wich were crap quality all the best with the grow
