Full Version: The Scandinavian Clone box

Was down at my local favourite Scandinavian furniture store recently and spotted this rather attractively priced cupboard that comes complete with an internal plastic tray that's on runners thumbsup.gif . One would rather assume that it was purpose designed as a grow cabinet, anyway a few minor modifications later and it's been converted into a new cloning cab

Still needs abit of work to stop light leaks but as this will be only for vegging it's not going to be critical. Still haven't finished covering all the inside with mylar yet.

Add in a few server cabinet fans to provide a good airflow, these little puppies run on 240v so don't need a transformer, and some lighting and voila

Here's the internal plastic tray, this is sheer genius, slides right out for easy watering and inspection.

They've got a sale on at the moment so these cabinets work out at a reasonable price if you're in the market for a small cabinet.

It is indeed biggrin.gif , couldn't believe it when I saw one set up in the shop and just instantly thought how it would be ideal for raising clones and seedlings. It was the internal tray that really sealed the deal yes.gif

Thanks Bish, I'll have to credit the designers for a well thought out cab. It really did require very little modification on my part yes.gif

If you reply to the post that contains one of the pictures you'll see the code I used in my quote. The pictures are from my gallery and the img is the thumbnail of the picture I wanted to display.

Forgot to add, Ik*a is like a superstore for weed growers, I got almost everything I needed there... I felt like a f*ckin' tool with 20 CFL lightbulbs in the shopping cart 13.gif

great clone cab felix cool.gif
scarface
so felix, its been nearly a month now and the important question for me is how is the draw holding up? basically are the rails etc still ok or do you reacon they are feeling the weight of the compost now after a few opening and closings?

still its an awesome cab mate, top job smoke.gif
felix_dzerjinski
Thanks guys yes.gif

@ Scarface,

It's been a while now and the runners are still working ok. Having said that I've only been using very small 1/4 litre pots mostly and the largest that's been in there were 1/2 litre so there really hasn't been much weight placed on it. I don't think the runners would last long if you were to use heavier pots and possibly even with light use they may need replacing every 18 - 24 months. Not a major expense but certainly something to be aware of, when the runners finally give up the ghost you could still just use the tray on it's own.
mr munchie
cool.gif sweet!
