hi all bought a ps3 off ebay used but like new. ive used it for to days switched it on today and it wont read any discs.
there is a symbol spinning in the top right hand corner, like its trying to load, but nothing. everything else works, is the disc drive fucked?

just thought one of you clever bods on ere may have a simple solution before i havr to spend any money.

get on to one of the ps3 forums m8, somebody will have the answers.

It does sound like the drive is fucked.. if you paid through paypal, you can claim your money back through them by saying you received a faulty item.

well never managed to sort it and it gets worse

15 days ago i paid for another, from shitbay. guess what it never arrived so ive had to open a paypal dispute now, i'm gutted.

do you reckon it will be 3rd time lucky?

your bluray is shot m8.playstation fix them for free if its under a year old.U can still play downladed games so its not entirely useless.

My 40gb doing the same

it will read cds,dvds but not games or bluray dvd's. Every now and then it will play a game but only randomly.

Has anyone got the number you need to call for sony?
If they do replace it is there a way of getting all my saved data transferred? Would be really gutted to lose all the saves ive got.

google sony continuousplay, pay £4 a month insurance and blag yerself a replacement

my ps3 went tits up a while ago , i rang sony and had a new one with 48 hours ,

as for all your saved data , the stuff you have bought and paid for from the ps3 store can be re-downloaded once you have retrieved your account when setting up your replacement ps3 and third party downloads ie singstar stuff you have to wait for sony to refresh your account this can take weeks

Common fault mate, one of my pals is on his third PS3 because of it, its probably why the guys sold it to be honest.

Cheers, i might try the sony continuousplay thing. im gonna try n get a free one first but its over a year old so fingers crossed.
