Replayed Crysis + Warhead through again (coz they were so good first time round, and I wanted to see the 64Bit versions and DirectX10 GFX again, plus I got some improved texture maps for them that I wanted to see - gawd, I thought that the game(s) looked nigh on perfect *before* I applied them - they look even better now.

)
My ATI 4850 overclocks from 625/1004 (GPU/GDDR3) to 730/1110 and this makes the frame rate perfect - smooth with no slowdowns or jerkiness at all (all GFX settings on the equivalent of Ultra High except for textures (High) and shadows (High) - these make next to no difference anyway, and kill your frame-rate mainly coz of the extra memory throughput they require) .

I have also been replaying the GTA3 series of games (GTA3, Vice City and San Andreas) - I got some hi-rez texture packs for GTA-SA which look stunning, and it's such a good game anyway - so that was nice.

I have also started HL2 - Episode 2, Fallout 3, and F.E.A.R. Extraction Point, and have got S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Skies, Bioshock, GTA 4, Portal and COD5 - World at War in the wings to try out.

I've only just started the first few minutes of HL2E2 so I can't judge it yet, but I loved HL2, and am sure that I'm going to like this one - Fallout3 - don't know how I feel about this one, maybe it's just not my game - everyone seems to have been raving about it.
Really disappointed with Far Cry 2 - I really can't see what they were trying to do with this game - it seems to me like they just wanted to cash in on the good reputation of the first Far Cry game (which I thought was pretty good). FC2 just seems like a load of boring, repetitive pointless nothingness to me - really nice GFX engine, though....

Oh, and Felix - if you're still running Ubuntu (or any other child of Debian), as far as MAME is concerned,
xmame (
sdlmame,
xmame-SDL,
xmame-x &
xmame-gl) is available in the repos and also available for download are
kxmame - a nice KDE MAME GUI and
gxmame for Gnome.
