The more time i spend on here and look at other seeds to add to my list wink.gif I find that there is a lot of respect for sativas, particularly hazes.

As most people grow indicas for yield, height and moingyness, i dont think i've tried a true sativa yet sad.gif As i would like to, the best way would be to grow some but i know that sativas arent for beginners! I have a two metre high space, from that you would have to take away pot height and distance from the light.

Is it even possible for me to grow a sativa? if so, which one?

Any info would be a great help, thanks spliff.gif Reb spliff.gif

ed: spelling mistakes, im such a perfectionist..and stoner lol.gif

H mate. I've just cropped my 1 sativa dom Martian Haze grown in 13.5ltr pot filled with coco under a 400w hps

This is a link to the crop

I've only got a 1.8m high space. Topped her at 12" then lst and supercropped her

Ah, i was looking at this earlier, i left a comment and once again- Well done m8!

Its definatley possible then, was it hard graft keepin them from scorching or did u find controlling the stretch easy enough? I've seen lst and supercropping being done on a lot of the diaries, when theres a will theres a way!

I was wondering if there was perhaps a train that doesnt need so much tinkering? innocent.gif Yes, i'm very lazy! Not just that, i havnt really got the confidence to go tying plants up, the very idea of bondage-i was raised in a strict catholic house-hold lol.gif

haze #19 x skunk from nirvana is a really nice plant, a high yielder but takes 12-14 weeks to finish, but is real easy to look after, not sensitive to nutes, can take high/low temps, they stretch a fair bit, but if put on 12/12 as soon as roots show on clones they finish at about 2.5ft, 10 days veg you're looking at 4-5ft, never topped or trained them realy so don't know how they respond to this? etc doesn't smell like a haze though, very skunky. really STRONG but very uplifting high, no monginess unless you overdo it and whitey. the seeds are pretty cheap to, so a good place to start. will be growing it again definitely, probably after my current grow/s are finished

wouldn't suggest haze as an easy sativa? possibly looking at an 18+ week flowering period pinch.gif

I can't be much help as the two packets of Canna Biogens I grew out were mixes, and I only have my own grows as a reference, but the sativa phenos were delightful - fresh tastes, (pine, citrus, lavender), clear highs - so I'm guessing anything from that stable would be worth trying.

Well behaved - stretched to 3 x over the first 2 weeks then stopped - I generally give up waiting at 12 weeks or so ...

My growing spce is only 5 foot 6 plus 1 foot above for ventilation, but I used side lighting.
The sativa pheno probably yielded the best of all - over 2 ounces.

Vegged 6 weeks, chucked out males, LSTd then vegged 2 more weeks.

nice one scraglor, i wouldnt have thought a few days in veg could make such a difference to final height, or that u coul finish one at 2.5 feet! Would the bud still taste the same?

The good thing about nirvana is the seeds are cheap enough to just have a crack at it biggrin.gif

Thanks m8, think this might be the way to go. I did see blue haze frome homegrown fantaseeds, says it grows like an indica but is anice haze with a hint of blueberry. Sounds like exactly what i want but i think it sounds too good to be true! 34.gif

Im thinkin this sativa thing might not be as difficult as some make out, theres a solution to every problem!

compostverte, is side lighting when the lights hang vertically? may be seen as a silly Q but makin sure!

How about Kalimist, Clicky Clicky

Hey ther toker, cheers 4 chippin in! that certainly looks good! Is it an easier one to grow?

Do sativas make certain demands that indicas dont, ie environment, medium? i know you can play around with light cycles to give a better representation of equatorial seasons, id probably just leave itr 12/12 though!

I have just finished two celestial temple sativa phenos one in 10 and one in 11 weeks. One was on the short side two. There is no body to the stone both are in the mind only - the shorter is uplifting and nice wake and bake with a lovely tropial fruit tast/smell whreas the taller is not quite as fruity more spicy but is no-ceiling, pyschedelic in higher doeses type high. Crazy big buds that were easy to LST too. They are supposedly a landrace staiva from ecquador by federation seeds.

By side lighting, I mean that I like to get my (fairly low power) lamps deep into the canopy.
If you look at my photo, you'll see my lamps and reflectors are on seperate brackets. (And the short plants are propped up on bricks so the lamps are about 9 inches away.)

As for different cultural requirements, I can't say I've noticed. Probably because I always like to have a wide range of genetics in mt cupboard so always have to be responsive to variations.

Personally I'm a bit wary of these "holy grail" sativa hybrids.

The Sensi Silver Haze I grew some years back was very uninspiring - it had lost all the freshness you expect from a sativa. Skunk#1 was, after all the first attempt at a manageable sativa.

The Canna Biogens I grew were no more difficult than skunk#1, but significantly more sativa in both flavour and high.

Thanks guys, i definatley feel i can handle it now-its just how u treat it i suppose (to a degree!)

jah_toker: I've always liked the look of kali mist but was put off by the 'sativa' bit! Its on the list now wink.gif

And i'll b checkin canna biogen out 2, thanks compostverte thumbsup.gif

Guess my first taste of a true sativa will be when i go to the dam in feb (hopefully!), even if i grow cali next it wouldnt be ready till july lol.gif
Wolfsalv
I hope to try Ace Seeds Bangy Haze and Orient Express their shorter in height for Sativa's, yep check out ACE.

'sativa' doesn't really define much tbh, take a look at the sat grow in my link. all plants were pure sats, but the different in growth between strains is huge. (although the smallest was still 18" and they were in 12/12 even while the clones rooted) so some are more manageable than others. any sativa that's sold as an indoor strain shouldn't be too difficult to manage. for worked hybrid sativas (which is what you'll get from most dutch seedbanks) then just treat them as any other strain but just reduce the veg time

if you want a strain with a really fresh light hazey smell and taste then i suggest the indian haze, it really has an amazing smell, very complex! fruity, slightly skunky, spicey, grassy, citrusy all at the same time, never smelt weed like it! can't say too much on the high at the mo, i've had a small taste but it's not finished yet, still a lovely smoke, it's defo a handful to grow though, although with the right treatment still managable. for pure and unworked tropical sat's, check out the ultimate sativa grow guide. there's a link to it on post 99 of my diary thumbsup.gif

If you leave it on 12/12 from seed, the plant will stay small, short but will yield very little.
Try vegging pure sativas on 14 hrs light, for 4 or 5 weeks, and flower on 10 hours of light.
Real sativa nuts like me will gradually adjust the light cycle, no more than half an hour per week.

As for light, always veg sativas under Metal Halide, use a conversion bulb if you have to , I do. The blue light helps control stretch, I prefer to do this in early flower until the stretch is over with.
I like to finish the plants under a week or 3 of Metal Halide, I suspect the UV radiation may aid THC formation, most of which happens in the last few weeks prior to harvest.

Tie-downs are easy to learn, and that leads to Scrog. I just made the leap, it's doable, I will edit this post with a link to my grow in just a bit.
Ok, here is the link to my current grow of Highland Nepalese Pure, from Reeferman: http://www.uk420.com/boards/index.php?show...=152294&hl=

As far as environment or medium, all the standard advice applies.

Alright mate,

Nice to see you picking sativa's too, this is my first time round with them to. Although i have only 1.4m space to grow in but im lst'n all the way. If you go to my dairy below you can have a look, i have senegel haze (mostly sativa) from afropips and thai-tanic (mostly sativa) from flying dutchman. I put all in 12/12 from seed till all showed sex and now vegging for 7-10days, as said lst'n all the way.

Afropips recommend 10days veg with there strains at the most. Should have a look there got a nice range.

Good luck!
